The campaign is divided into two stages, with a winner crowned at the end of each phase following a play-off competition involving the best eight teams from the regular season.
Both the Apertura and Finalizacion are counted as league victories in their own right, marking a return to the previous format following alterations to the system during the Covid-affected 2020 season.

'Thomas can get very loud very quickly' - Chelsea boss Tuchel divides dressing room with methods, says Ramos
Goal, Ramos, who now plays for America de Cali in his home nation of Colombia, said: "Thomas is obsessed with football and places extremely high demands on his players, especially from a tactical point of view. Anyone who does not meet these requirements has a problem. Then Thomas can get very loud very quickly and sometimes says things that hurt.
"Unfortunately, it is normal that one or the other in this business quickly feels trodden on, but I never had the feeling that he was trying to attack someone personally with his criticism. I got on well with his style. Others don't. One thing is clear to me: if I become a coach one day, I will certainly not yell as much as Thomas."

Pumas announced that they acquired Panamanian forward Gabriel Torres on loan from Universidad de Chile. Torres arrives in Mexico after a very successful spell with Independiente del Valle in Ecuador, where he was a key part in the team that won the Copa Sudamericana in 2019. With the injury of Juan Ignacio Dinenno, Pumas was left with a single striker in Emanuel Montejano, who is a top prospect but is also just 19 years old and more importantly only made his Liga MX debut in the game where Dinenno got injured. Torres, who has had a long career, will need to hit the ground running, as Pumas will be using him against Monterrey on Saturday according to coach Lillini.

RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- The South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) is widely regarded as having the world's most gruelling World Cup qualifying tournament.
During the 18-round campaign, teams face lung-busting altitude, scorching tropical heat, long-haul flights between many cities and passionate fans that make stadiums such as Argentina's La Bombonera or Brazil's Maracana among the world's most inhospitable venues for opponents.
In addition, the quality of the 10 member teams means there are no easy games for anyone; the region boasts four national sides in FIFA's current top 10 and seven in the top 25.

The broken business model: A flea-market frenzy of buying, selling PSL teams
The broken business model: A flea-market frenzy of buying, selling PSL teams

JOHANNESBURG – For the longest time, many people have observed that a strange relationship exists between the game of football and the basic principles of economics. The relationship is neither direct nor inverse but flies uncontrollably like a kite on a windy day.
As a result, it is quite complicated to understand and or to predict the commercial side of football for anyone concerned, including economists and sportswriters alike.
Hence, football is characterized to be following a ‘broken business model’. There are not even theories that can help one to explain football phenomena in a much easier language that is understandable to everyone.

Happy Tuesday, everyone. International breaks are never easy, but luckily there’s an opportunity to get some live soccer viewing in this Friday when the U.S. hosts Canada in the Concacaf Nations League at Exploria Stadium. Unfortunately, I’ll be working that night (put the game on a weekend for God’s sake), which means the tone of my Friday feature may be slightly grumpy. My apologies in advance; now let’s hit the links.
