Petra Kvitova was in brilliant form throughout the week at the Qatar Total Open but the World No.10 saved her best for the title clash.        
A tough final was predicted between the fourth seeded Czech and World No.16 Garbiñe Muguruza, but Kvitova with her powerful winners made it a one-sided affair at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, yesterday.

Doha: Petra Kvitova clinched second Qatar Total Open crown after outclassing Garbiñe Muguruza 6-2, 6-1 in the final at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex on Saturday.     
The Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani also watched the final that saw the World No. 10 Czech hitting powerful shots all over the court to tame the World No.16 Spaniard, whom she also defeated in the 2018 final. She completed the win in only 66 minutes. 
With her title triumph, Kvitova, who will turn 31 on Monday, became only the fourth player in the tournament’s history to clinch the tournament twice. Victoria Azarenka (2012 and 2013), Anastasia Myskina (2003, 2004) and Maria Sharapova (2005, 2008) previously won the prestigious title twice.

Former World No.1 Garbine Muguruza sealed a straight-set win over Veronika Kudermetova 6-2, 7-6 to sail into the second round of Qatar Total Open that got under way at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, yesterday.   
The opening day’s action also saw fifth seed Kiki Bertens and seventh seed Jennifer Brady falling at first hurdles. Two-time Qatar Total Open champion Victoria Azarenka and three-time Grand Slam winner Angelique Kerber also advanced after winning their matches.

Tennis stars including four recent finalists are ready to battle for the golden Falcon Trophy as the Qatar Total Open begins today, with thrilling first round games on the cards. 
Top-notch action is guaranteed at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex in the next six days, with 10 players of the Top 20 - including four from Top 10 – eyeing top prize in the $565,530 competition and maximum points to boost their rankings. 
The winner of the event will be awarded 470 points besides getting richer by $68,570.
