Persoanele surde sau hipoacuzice trăiesc zilnic drama izolării și lipsei de comunicare cu ceilalți. Și nu este vorba de câteva persoane. Vorbim despre mai bine de 23.000 de surzi sau hipoacuzici, la nivelul întregii țări - conform datelor prezentate de Asociația Surzilor din România. Dintre aceștia, aproape 2.000 sunt copii. Care este soluția scoaterii acestor oameni din tăcere și izolare? Interpretul de limbaj mimico-gestual. V-am povestit, cu altă ocazie, ce reprezintă acest limbaj pentru persoanele cu deficiență de auz, iar de atunci ne-am interesat cum ar fi posibil ca noi, ceilalți, să-i ajutăm pe acești oameni. Astfel, am aflat că prezența unui interpret este esențială pentru un surd în relaționarea acestuia cu absolut toate instituțiile, în mai toate aspectele vieții cotidiene.
