Just call me Polly: why titles like Mr and Mrs aren't important

Should you still call yourself Mrs after divorce?
OPINION: Is it 'entitled' to give yourself a title? On a women's discussion group on social media this week a woman asked the question: “If I'm divorced is it OK to call myself Mrs?”
So many responses. So many differing ideas about titles and handles and who gets what and when, whoever breaks up from whoever. I romped in, in a non-typical display of public nudity with: “You should do whatever makes you comfortable. I, for one, don't like titles. I'm simply Polly Gillespie.'
I had no idea that so many women felt so strongly about the whole Miss, Ms, Mrs thing. I don't get it. Never have, never will, but I’m totally cool with calling yourself whatever floats your pool inflatable. I just can't own a title, or give anyone else one. We are Kiwis. A Jack is as good as his master. We travelled what must have seemed like lifetimes to escape classes and titles. I'm not in to it. I'm a Jack and master which quite possibly makes me a Jaster, or a Jagermeister, or quite aptly, a 'disaster'.

Grizzly managers face conflicting politics

ROB CHANEY
As they come out of their hibernation dens this spring, Montana grizzly bears awaken to a churning political landscape.
Some of that will go on display Thursday and Friday at the Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee’s Northern Continental Divide Ecosystem subcommittee meeting, held in cyberspace.
As the wildlife managers overseeing roughly 1,000 grizzlies inhabiting the mountains between Glacier National Park and Missoula convene, they will have fresh exhortations from the Montana Legislature and the state’s congressional delegation to consider.
They must also absorb the executive shifts from Democratic Gov. Steve Bullock to Republican Gov. Greg Gianforte, in contrast with the federal reverse of President Donald Trump to President Joe Biden.

Montana grizzly bear resolution calls for statewide delisting

Grizzly bears should be delisted from the Endangered Species Act in the entirety of the state of Montana and delisting should be exempt from judicial review, the Montana Legislature declared in a resolution passed Friday.
Senate Joint Resolution 18 brought by Sen. Bruce “Butch” Gillespie, R-Kevin, passed both chambers of the Legislature primarily along party lines with majority Republicans in support. Resolutions have no statutory effect, but lawmakers often pass them to indicate positions on federal policies, to commemorate historic events or support programs around the state.
The Legislature has passed resolutions in past sessions encouraging delisting of grizzly bears, which were listed as threatened in 1973. Management of the bears is one of the biggest wildlife issues facing the state as populations of the bruins continue to grow and ranges expand.

Why A Montana Bill Making It Easier To Kill Grizzly Bears Could Backfire

Tom Kuka has been ranching on the Blackfeet Reservation for nearly 30 years. His ranch is about 20 miles east of the Rocky Mountain Front, where jagged peaks meet sprawling prairie. And Kuka, like many on the front, unwillingly shares his ranch with grizzly bears.
"You just have to be aware all the time," Kuka said. "I've run into sows and cubs, but they've seen me first, but one day it might not be that way."
He worries for the safety of himself, his family and his livelihood. Kuka said he loses about 15 calves every year to grizzlies, a loss he estimates to be worth between $12,000 and $15,000.

New Montana bills 'declare war on wolves, bears, other carnivores' say wildlife supporters – People's World

A flurry of bills has recently been introduced to Montana’s state legislature that reduces restrictions on the killing of grizzly bears and wolves — two predators which have historically struggled to survive in the state.
One such bill is SB 98, put forward by Republican Sen. Bruce Gillespie, which would expand the state law allowance for killing grizzly bears. Currently, Montanans can kill grizzly bears if they are caught in the act of killing their livestock, according to CBS News. But the new bill — which has already passed the state Senate — would mean grizzly bears could be killed if they were “believed to be ‘threatening’ a person or livestock.” The bill also states that grizzly populations have “recovered” and should be taken off the federal endangered species list.

Your Boots On The Hill At the halfway mark, Montana agriculture is in good hands

As we review the official first half of the Montana Legislative session, it’s safe to say the session is looking good for Montana agriculture. Of the 3,357 total bill draft requests, 1,121 have been formally introduced. Montana Farm Bureau has taken a stance and lobbied for or against 60 of those, based on the policy directives of our farming and ranching members. Many of the bills we have supported are already on their way to the Governor’s desk. There are no bills left alive from the first half that we have opposed, unless they have been amended in a way that either no longer makes them harmful or, in some cases, even makes them policy we could now support.
