Thats one of the findings in a new 980page wakeup call from the Surgeon General about newly discovered dangers of smoking. 50 years after the first alarm went out that smoking causes lung cancer todays report says it causes as many as 10 other lifeshortening diseases. The report says smoking is to blame for 480,000 premature deaths a year thats up 9 . Smoking resulted in nearly 176 billion in medical costs last year. Our dr.
