default option. >> and it is true that the pakistanis are not living up to the u.s. expectations in doing what they said they would do? >> i in they the pakistanis are doing what they can, because a lot of the intelligence for the attacks comes from the pakistanis themselves. and in fact, most of the people killed are the taliban attacking the pakistani pentagon equivalent, and the pakistani military bases and police posts, so there is a much more closer alignment of the pakistani and the american sides, and there is no own ership of this, but ther is cooperation. >> if you are on the tribal grounds, peter, and the drones are overhead, do you know they are there? >> well, apparently, they are referred to as wasps in the local languagers bau th languag emit a distinct sound. but they cannot be seen if there is any cloud cover, but they do emit a sound, and people are

the letter goes on to ask, if possible her their checks be made out to them instead of the university. thank you for your cooperation. listen how she explained this today. >> i did not sign the letter. apparently, it was done from my district office. i haven't even seen it close enough to even detect whose handwriting it was. i knew it wasn't mine. >> she said someone else signed the letter. if that's true and we'll assume that's true that means she either asked someone to sign the letter under her name so the relatives could get the money directly or someone in her office took it upon themselves took it upon themselves to forge her name so her relatives could get the money. why someone on her staff would care enough to do that, award the relatives, i can't fathom. and she won't talk to us anymore, even though the invitation still stands. we have melani eechlt sloan and

today, "if" there were rules. it's a simple fact. there were clearly rules and she violated them. in an interview weeks ago with us, she claims she didn't spend a lot of time trying to give her relatives a few thousands dollars and said she was busy doing important work but since then this letter surfaced. this letter bearing her signature on her letterhead written to the scholarship people asking that the money be sent to her relatives not the school they were going to. ms. meek, she says, please accept the enclosed checks for press stop and gregory moore, her great nephews. the letter goes on to ask, if possible her their checks be made out to them instead of the university. thank you for your cooperation. listen how she explained this today. >> i did not sign the letter. apparently, it was done from my district office. i haven't even seen it close enough to even detect whose handwriting it was. i just knew it wasn't mine. >> she said someone else signed the letter. if that's true and we'll assume

thank you in advance for your cooperation. eddie bernice johnson. listen to how she explained this today to "the dallas morning news." >> i did not sign the letter. apparently it was done from my district office. i hadn't even seen it close enough to even detect whose hand whiting it was. i just knew it was not mine. >> she says someone else signed the letter. if that's true, and less assume that's true, that means she asked someone in her office to sign the letter under her name so her relatives could get the money directly or some her office just took it upon themselves to write this letter and forge her name so her relatives could get the money y.someone on her staff would care enough to do that to award the relatives i cannot fathom. apparently miss johnson doesn't care enough about this to investigate and doesn't want to talk to us anymore about it though the invitation still stands. joining us know is melanie sloan and todd gilman who has been reporting on this who broke the story for "the dallas morning news." todd, it seems like her story

most use you could out of still photographs. the civil war much of baseball and a lot of the second world war and a lot of jazz. how did you stay true to what your documentary film should be in an era that is recorded on videotape with six different angles? >> we have to edit that and there was a tyranny of choice just as no choice say in the civil war where there is not an old photograph of battle. huh to recreate. the dna is still that individual image's ability to convey complex information. we had great cooperation with the mlb that helped us and gave us this footage and let us see all the different camera angles, we return again and again to a photograph that would anchor you in meaning as well as illustration. you don't want to illustrate it, but have meaning where 1 and one, word and image don't always add to to two or three. that's what we want.

going to punt? is it not dead yet? is it any clearer today than last week? >> well, as of a little while ago when i was talking to some of my sources on the hill, keith, i'd say it's comatose. nancy pelosi would like to do it. i think some of the political leaders in the house on the democratic side would like to try to do it. i know here in pennsylvania, i'm in philadelphia tonight, here in pennsylvania representative joe sestak who is running for the senate would very much like to do it. he thinks it would play here. but there's some conservative democrats who don't want to do it and as ezra klein says without the cooperation of the senate, the house doesn't want to go first in part because some of those blue dog democrats are still angry that they were made by the white house to vote for the cap and trade environment bill a year ago, at least that's their excuse. >> the admission by minority

could of still photographs. much of baseball, a lot of the war, second world war documentary, a lot of jazz. how did you stay true to your own vision of what a documentary film should be in an era that is entirely recorded on videotape from six different angles each shot? >> exactly and we had to edit that. there's a tyranny of choice there as of no choice in the civil war where there's not a single old photograph of actual battles so you had to sort of re-create and do it. what we did we kept what you just said, the dna is still that individual image of the ability to convey complex information and while we have the great cooperation of mlb which helped us at every turn and gave thus footage and let us see all the different camera angles we return again and again to a photograph that would anchor you, i think, in meaning as well as illustration. you don't want to just merely illustrate. you also want to have meaning where one-and-one, word and image don't always add up to two but sometimes to three because that's what we want. we want that strange and improbable calculus in our lives. >> who is the breakout
