We cannot live without one another and yet our nationalistic ideologies encourage us to focus too narrowly on the nation and that is particularly true in the middle east where the nationstates set up by the british and the french 100 years ago were arbitrary, bizarre and put together a whole lot of incompatible peoples and told them to create a nation.
