Gadot, who rose to fame with the 2017 superhero blockbuster Wonder Woman, is not new to the conversation around pay disparity. After the film’s box office success, there were stories that the actor was paid less than what her male counterparts earned in similar roles. It reignited the debate around the gender pay gap, something that several female Hollywood actors– from Jennifer Lawrence, Salma Hayek to Emma Watson– have spoken about.

Hollywood star Emma Watson turned 31 on Thursday. The actor, who became a household name after appearing as Hermione in the beloved Harry Potter movies, has proven her mettle as an artiste outside the fantastical world of the franchise as well. From period to con dramas, Emma has done it all, and done it well. Here is a quick look at five such movies.
‘BALLET SHOES’ — an adaptation of Noel Streatfeild’s classic children’s book, the 2007 movie directed by the talented filmmaker Sandra Goldbacher is sometimes a little on the nose, but always wonderful. Set in the 1930s, the main cast comprises of Emma Watson, Richard Griffiths, Lucy Boynton and Yasmin Paige. The story follows the lives of three young women who cherish the dream of becoming an actor, a ballerina and an aviator, respectively. Ballet Shoes is quite predictable and not particularly ground-breaking, but what it does effectively is place its audience in the middle of this humanist, ageless tale. A job well done.

'Not fair' to brand JK Rowling 'a transphobic bigot'
An Irish broadcasting regulator has ruled it was 'not fair' for a radio show panelist to brand JK Rowling a 'transphobic bigot' without evidence.
The author, who has been furiously criticised over a raft of comments in recent months, was accused of transphobia on The Last Word with Matt Cooper last September.
Complaints were made following the Today FM broadcast, and Ireland's top broadcast regulator has now ruled the remark was 'not fair' as there was no 'evidence' to 'back up' the claim.
The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) added the host failed to challenge the statement, ruling that the Code of Fairness, Objectivity and Impartiality in News and Current Affairs was breached.

Calling J.K. Rowling a 'Transphobic Bigot' is 'Not Fair,' Irish Broadcast Authority Says
On 4/15/21 at 2:55 PM EDT
Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling a "transphobic bigot," last year was "not fair."
The BAI's ruling came after a complaint was filed against the
Last Word with Matt Cooper on September 18, 2020.
The complaint alleged that during the segment, a panelist on the show stated that Rowling was transphobic without providing context or "evidence" to back up the claim, according to the BAI ruling.
"The complainant claims this statement was not challenged by the presenter or any of the other panelists. The complainant believes that this is a very serious accusation, and considers that the segment lacked balance, impartiality or objectivity," the BAI filing states.
