Nearly 1,000 homes and other structures, though, have been destroyed and tonight some of the victims are getting a firsthand look at whats left. This fire also the deadliest. Five people have died. We are told he was mentally and visually challenged. He could barely see. He didnt have a phone. He didnt drive. And sadly he did not survive. He deserved a life and he deserved he deserved to know that he was he was loved. Reporter well, i am in the Rolling Hills neighborhood right now, and it is a neighborhood that has been evacuated. Im going to get back into up. From where i am, and i know youll be able to see some of my video of what it looked like when i came in on i80, you could actually see smoke from some of the hilltops and see flames near the area near travis boulevard. That is the video that youll be able to see on the screen in one moment. Thats a very busy section of fairfield. But where i am now is in that Rolling Hills neighborhood. Neighbor, there were long lines going out of the neighbor because of the mandatory evacuations. I want to go off into the distance. First you can see the homes right here. Then we look at the hillsides. We are at the western portion of i80. You go see the hill sides that are charred black from the flames that have torn through this area. They are under a mandatory evacuation. Some of them are still here. I want to pan back out. There are other things i want to show you. It is pretty quiet here. When we go on to above that roof and on to that hill top, you can see where some of those air tankers dropped that fire retardant. I want to throw it right now to some of the sound we have from some of the folks living in this area on what it has been like in the last 24 hours. At some point, if we feel its not safe, we will definitely depart. But like i am, we havell. Weve been saying all day, if the winds are on our side, we have a chance. The air quality over the peninsula looks moderate at the moment. Unhealthy in the inner east bay and south bay and also the eastern edge where fires are burning. As we get into the afternoon, we are not expecting any improvement. There is a look at the estuary. You can see cloud cover there indicating whether changes that are already underway. Here is a look at what we are expecting for the afternoon. Poor air quality with an onshore breeze coming in and will improve things in some areas. That will cool us down and bring up our relative humidity. It will also increase our wind, which could be a challenge for firefighters. When i come back, i will have what you can expect.
