أكد نائب وزير الدفاع الأمير خالد بن سلمان، عمق العلاقات الاستراتيجية التي تربط البلدين الصديقين المملكة العربية السعودية والولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، منوهاً بما وصلت إليه من مستويات مُتقدمة في المجالات كافة في ظل قيادة خادم الحرمين الشريفين وولي عهده الأمين والرئيس جو بايدن، ومُقدماً تهنئته للولايات المتحدة الأمريكية بمناسبة ذكرى يوم الاستقلال، واصفاً مشاركة السعوديين أصدقاءهم الأمريكيين هذه المناسبة بالتعبير الذي يدل على عمق الصداقة التي تربط الشعبين الصديقين.
جاء ذلك خلال المباحثات الموسعة التي جمعت نائب وزير الدفاع السعودي مع وزير الدفاع الأمريكي لويد أوستن، ورئيس هيئة الأركان المشتركة الجنرال مارك ميلي ووكيل وزارة الدفاع الأمريكية للسياسات الدكتور كولن كاهل، وذلك في إطار زيارته الرسمية الحالية لأمريكا.
جلسة المباحثات التي شهدتها العاصمة الأمريكية (واشنطن) أمس، وجمعت الجانبين السعودي والأمريكي، شهدت أيضاً استعراضاً للشراكة السعودية الأمريكية وأوجه التعاون الاستراتيجي في المجالات العسكرية والدفاعية القائمة والمستقبلية بين البلدين، كما جرى بحث العديد من الملفات في إطار الرؤية المشتركة للبلدين في دعم الأمن والاستقرار والدفاع عن المصالح المشتركة ضد التهديدات أيّاً كان مصدرها، في سبيل الحفاظ على الأمن والسلم الدوليين.
‏من جهة ثانية، التقى الأمير خالد بن سلمان بمستشار الأمن القومي الأمريكي جيك سوليفان، وركّز اللقاء على استعراض الجهود الدولية والتنسيق المشترك بين المملكة وأمريكا، في إطار الرؤية المشتركة لمواجهة التطرف والعنف والإرهاب، وما يتعلق بها من مخاطر تُهدد أمن الشعوب ومقدراتها واستقرارها وتعايشها.
كما جرى خلال اللقاء بحث علاقات التعاون والتنسيق والعمل المشترك بين البلدين في مختلف الجوانب، إضافة إلى عدد من القضايا والملفات ذات الاهتمام المشترك.
حضر لقاءات نائب وزير الدفاع مع المسؤولين الآمريكين، سفيرة خادم الحرمين الشريفين لدى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية الأميرة ريما بنت بندر بن سلطان، ومساعد وزير الدفاع للشؤون التنفيذية الدكتور خالد البياري، والمستشار العسكري لوزير الدفاع اللواء المهندس الركن طلال بن عبدالله العتيبي، والملحق العسكري السعودي بواشنطن وأوتاوا اللواء فواز الفواز، ومدير عام مكتب نائب وزير الدفاع هشام بن سيف.
