Were about 75 miles east of new orleans which is where a lot of the attention for this storm has been because it is a lowlying area, very populated area. But here just to west is where were really getting hammered. Were not too far away from the storm which is making its way onshore. Were here on a lake which looks like the gulf, its just getting pounded so hard. The waves are high, and this is usually just a flat lake that you can ride your boat around on. Not today though. have been four flash flood emergencies in the bloomingdale neighborhoods in just the last two months. fox 5 s karen gray houston is live with more. reporter: the streets here along rhode island avenue northwest are bone dry now which may seem deceiving to some members of this community, but there are some trucks and bulldozers out here just in case we get bad weather tonight. for now the flooding may be gone, but there are still some wet basements. the hard work for now, disinfecting and cleaning up the mess. the level of water was up to here. it was close to 4 feet of water. reporter: michael thomas has lived on two floors at his house on u street for four years. he tookous a tour of his basement and says took us on a tour of his basement and said this is the worst he s ever seen. this is actually the third time it flooded in the last six weeks. reporter: he says just about everything that was not bolted to the floor was floating around. d. the pressure w ....
center. the flash flood warning for the district of columbia is set to expire right now at 10:00, but i would be kind of surprised if they didn t extend it or at least also extend it to areas west because let s look at radar. it is really filling in with a lot more areas of heavy to moderate rainfall. as i mentioned in our 6:00 hour, the problem is that we ll continue to see these popping up here and there, not always concentrated in one particular area, but some of these being extremely heavy pockets of rainfall coming down fairly strong and some with lightning as well. here s a look at our fox 5 accuweather radar. you can see the heavier sets of rainfall along the i-66 corridor getting hit badly. we had a very heavy cell over the d.c. area a little earlier tonight. here s a look at some of the totals so far. you can see more than 1 inch of rainfall to the south of d.c. and as we look towards areas to our west, more than 2 inches in some areas. as i said, it s not ov ....
