Die Veranstaltung ist nach Angaben der Senatskanzlei auf einer stillgelegten Startbahn geplant, auf der dann Tische für 2000 Gäste aufgestellt werden sollen. Berlins Regierender Bürgermeister Michael Müller, Wirtschaftssenatorin Ramona Pop, die Messe Berlin und das Tourismusmarketing Visit Berlin veranstalten das Freedom Dinner gemeinsam. Wie die Veranstalter mitteilen, sind Berlinerinnen und Berliner sowie ihre Gäste eingeladen, an diesem Abend die Freiheit und die Vielfalt der Stadt zu feiern. Für ein kleines kostenloses Catering ist den Angaben zufolge gesorgt.
