AAC Holds Public Hearing In Abuja, Slams Gwagwalada Area Council Chairman Over 'Corruption, Incompetence'

The African Action Congress (AAC) has accused the Chairman of the Gwagwalada Area Council, Alhaji Abubakar Jibrin Giri of incompetence and lack of direction in piloting the affairs of the council. The party disclosed this at the weekend in Abuja during a public hearing and launch of ‘Operation Hutu Dole Campaign’ organised by the Gwagwalada chapter of the party. The party also vowed to take over the area council in the next election, saying it is time to rescue the council and inject fresh ideas to move the area forward.

  A human rights activist, Francis Nwapa, has called on the Nigerian government to stop MultiChoice from the incessant increment of its subscription rates for GoTv and DStv packages in Nigeria.     Josiah Majebi is the fifth Chief Judge of Kogi State (in north-central Nigeria) in four years and the fourth to exist almost entirely in the pocket of the state governor. He has been in office as substantive Chief Judge since the beginning of February 2023, having acted in that role since 26 June 2022 when his predecessor, Richard Olorunfemi, retired. Henry Olusiyi served in that office for just under seven months from the end of June 2020 until January 2021. SERAP Sues Nigerian Petroleum Company, NNPCL Over Failure To Account For 'Missing $2Billion, N164Billion Oil Revenues'

    The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has filed a lawsuit against the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited over its "failure to account for and explain the whereabouts of the alleged missing USD$2.04 billion and N164 billion oil revenues." The suit followed the allegations documented in the recently published 2020 audited report by the Auditor General of the Federation that the NNPC failed to remit the money into the Federation Account, saying that the money may have been diverted.
