The Liberal National Coalition Government is backing regional jobs, industry development and affordable reliable power through continued support for CopperString 2.0.
The Morrison Government is announcing support of up to $11 million to help progress the project to Final Investment Decision in 2021.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said this support will help deliver this important energy project for the people of Queensland.
“Our support for CopperString is an investment in the future of Queensland that will bring power prices down, create 750 direct construction jobs and unlock the significant economic potential of the North West Minerals Province,” Prime Minister Morrison said.

46-year-old Herbert Nixon Flores, a ten-times deported MS-13 gang member recently released by Los Angeles Police Department gunned down his ex-girlfriend, Karen Ruiz in front of their 3-year-old daughter, then committed suicide.
Mara Salvatrucha, commonly referred to as MS-13 is a notoriously violent gang formed in Los Angeles by (mostly illegal) immigrants from El Salvador.
Last week Flores was released in Los Angeles by LAPD after they ignored a detainer for Flores to be handed over to ICE and he went on to murder his ex-girlfriend in Pacoima, in Los Angeles County.

The Home Secretary has today (Thursday 14 January) announced the appointment of Nick Herbert (Lord Herbert of South Downs) as the new Chair of the College of Policing, following a robust open competition in line with the Governance Code on Public Appointments.
Lord Herbert has highly relevant experience, having served as Minister of State for Policing and Criminal Justice across both the Home Office and Ministry of Justice. In his position he introduced Police and Crime Commissioners and the College of Policing. He was previously Shadow Minister for Police Reform, Shadow Secretary of State for Justice and a member of the Home Affairs Select Committee.

Parts of Queensland's main highway are under water and there are fears the unpredictable and relentless weather conditions are here to stay.
Another 100-150mm of rain fell overnight in some northern parts of the state following days of torrential rain, damaging winds and flash flooding.
A spokesman for the Bureau of Meteorology said heavy rainfall is forecast for Thursday particularly around Mackay, around Townsville.
