Delilah S. Dawson The Violence Dystopian Thriller First Look

Star Wars fantasies (like the Tales of Pell with Kevin Hearne). Her latest, though, is
The Violence, a dystopian thriller about a woman’s perilous path to freedom.

Here’s a quick description, followed by the full cover reveal—it’s by Black Kat Design, based on an image by Jonathan Kambouris/Gallery Stock—and a brief (but bloody) excerpt from
The Violence.
Chelsea Martin appears to be the perfect housewife: married to her high school sweetheart, the mother of two daughters, keeper of an immaculate home.
But Chelsea’s husband has turned their house into a prison; he has been abusing her for years, cutting off her independence, autonomy, and support. She has nowhere to turn, not even to her narcissistic mother, Patricia, who is more concerned with maintaining the appearance of an ideal family than she is with her daughter’s actual well-being. And Chelsea is worried that her daughters will be trapped just as she is—then a mysterious illness sweeps the nation.

Author Guest Blog: Introductory books to Urban Fantasy by John Ortega - SciFiNow - The World's Best Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Magazine

Hello
SciFiNow, thank you for inviting me to write about my favorite genre, Fantasy, specifically Urban Fantasy. What first drew me into this genre and what fuels my love for it, is the blend of the mundane with the fantastical. How you can go about your everyday life and not know if that cute barista at your local coffee shop is actually mortal like you or a millenia-year-old vampire who saw the pyramids being constructed and could tell you if aliens really had something to do with it or not.
A lot of authors have inspired my love for this genre that culminated in my debut novel

History, Discovery, and the Quiet Heroics of Gardening

When people think of gardeners, many of them tend to picture little old ladies in straw hats with bright green gloves, pottering among the roses.
When people think of gardeners who are also children’s book authors, they go straight to Beatrix Potter and assume that not only are these little old ladies in straw hats pottering among the roses, but they are also greeting the friendly woodland creatures by name—“Hello, Mister Robin! You’re looking very feathery today!” “Why, Missus Tiggywinkle, how have you been?” “Oh dear, that naughty little cottontail has been at my lettuces again!”

Unfit magazines use Thinkerbeat Reader to “chart… the authors that we thought
did really well with a story submission.” But these are not stories they bought – six days ago they tweeted out a link to the list of stories they rejected. The page had names, titles, and a rating between one and five stars. One problem: none of the authors had given them permission to do so.
SFWA issued a statement on Facebook warning about the practices in March.
Nine months later, Longshot Press is now trying to discredit SFWA in its post “A Clear Bias at the SFWA”.
Why does the SFWA post fake news? Why do they exhibit so much bias? There are a number of cases, but let’s begin with a solid example.
