very much was until he wasn't. at the moment he is not. >> it is interesting. both of them when they ran for governor where former clients of mine in my firms. i have a lot of respect for them. i think they are showing a roadmap of how to go out and just tell the truth about donald trump. they have different styles. kristie is sort of a street fighter. isa hutchinson is more of a southern gentlemen in his approach. you may not agree with their politics. you may not agree with the policy -- >> that doesn't matter, right? you and i agree about that, stewart. i don't care if you and i share a single policy other than the fact that we live in a democracy. everyone gets to vote, everyone's vote gets counted. you and i can disagree on health care, minimum wage, energy policy, who cares? >> we have to get back to having really deep, in-depth fights over the capital gains tax. not we should have a democracy or not. right now someone for 30 years
where people started to say, whoa, this guy is different. we went through this in 2012 in the republican primary, where they had to say crazy things. -- mitt romney probably ended his chances in the republican primary debate when he went crazy on immigration and handed us nevada and a couple other states. you are going to try to have moments that you break out. and then number two, i think all these people,, generally running for vice president. and or for the cabinet. this is a problem they are going to. have today hit donald trump? and if they don't, how do they have that breakout moment? i'm excited to see chris christie. you remember in 2016, he effectively ended and marco rubio's candidacy with one line. i cannot wait to see what kristie has for desantis on wednesday night. >> you are a political operative, you are always a political operative in your heart once you've been one. as you are watching this on wednesday, night i know you will be watching, who do you think has the most to lose and
>> here is the bottom line, the notion that barack obama doesn't know what he's doing is just -- he knows exactly what is. doing >> memorize 25-second speech. there it is everybody. >> two questions, no doubt that chris christie no matter what you think of him politically is a gifted speaker. that wasn't all done -- there was a lot of prep that goes into that moment watching how another candidate conducts himself. and knowing how to pull it apart. talk us through the mechanics of it. and talks or whether you know you think ron desantis will live through that moment? >> chris christie's great what he does. i talk about that moment in the book. he says some of the airlines are to be spontaneous. but some of these quote unquote singer is that we call them in debates are preplanned. famously, lloyd benson's i served with jack hannity, jack kennedy took quayle in 88. and with something him and his team came up with in practice, in perhaps, not something he came out on the night. christy that was spotted what they were doing. some of the best responses are in the moment. you see an opponent do something foolish and you think, this is my opening. kristie took not only once,

prosecutor, what is your best read on timing here? which trial should go first, and which one do you think prosecutors could wrap up the festus? >> so, i think the first trial can and should be jack smith's january 6th case. i think that will go in the first half of 2024. obviously, there's been briefing on those sides with very different trial dates for post for that one. with jack smith's team proposed in january of 2024, which seems like an aggressive schedule. that's the discovery is only going to be substantially complete at the end of august, that would give the trump team really about a month or so to review what is the luminous discovery. so, that seems a little ambitious. but trump proposing april of 2026 also was just complete delay strategy and posturing. looking at the schedule he proposed, there is just fears

of the combination of the lawyers and the campaign staff didn't know about it, and were opposed to it, kind of ultimately killed that. >> kristie, is trump testing will limits of not just judges, but even his own legal team? if so, what are the dangers of him doing that? >> well, i think trump lawyers know what they've gotten into with this particular client. maybe not listening. so certainly, having any kind of a conference you know, press conference as a criminal defendant is something any good defense attorney is going to tell their client not to do. because anything you say there can be used against you. we know there is no proof that he won the election, and if he have that proof, we would've seen it already. he had over 60 lawsuits where he presented no such evidence. he had an opportunity. his lawyers had an opportunity to meet with the special counsel's office before he was charged in that case. if they had really solid evidence that would've exonerated him, surely, they would've brought that to the special counsel's office and
our chief of staff is engaged in. that is an act of the campaign. he sent the text to the georgia secretary of state chief investigator about ways the campaign could assist financially in speeding up the fulton county signature verification process. again, nothing to do with his role as the chief of staff. that is squarely in the role of someone assisting with the campaign. and then you have his participation on the so-called perfect call on january 1st. the georgia secretary of state. where, he moves, he was seeking on that call to get information for data that would support their claims of election fraud. again, none of that relates to his official duties, so i think he will lose this notion, and i think it will remain in state court. >> wow, what are, you some kind of prosecutor? and listening to this going, she just made the whole case. let me just ask a quick question to you, who go. trump giuliani have indicated they want to do the same thing, try to bounce this from the state court in georgia to federal court. will that happen? >> well, giuliani at that point
looking to effectuate their scheme and not charging the person who was benefiting from. it so i expect that you will see charges against donald trump, as well as his allies. we know she sent over a dozen target letters. target letters means she's got the goods on you. so expect to see a sprawling conspiracy charge here with, i think, donald trump multiple allies. >> given, that kristie, in response to the interference indictment by jack smith's grand story, trump's team and his allies are pushing east free speech defense. smith argues a great lengths in the indictments that trump was indicted for what he dudes. not what he said. with the first amendment defense holding up in georgia, especially with india willis brings rico charges. >> there is no first amendment exception for committing criminal conduct for agreeing to commit a crime or conspiring or attempting to commit a crime
