But the big news — at least at the time of publication is that Davis Polk, as is kinda their tradition, set a new market standard for associate salaries, coming over the top of the scale set yesterday by Milbank. Now the floodgates have opened, with firms — eager to prove they can hang with the top of the industry — have matched the new salary grid. And that’s exactly what Cleary Gottlieb has done.
