lost at least for the moment. we hope again to be able to schedule that, reschedule that in the near future but frankly as much as we decry the loss of income, the most important thing is to be able to ensure that people are safe. i think a lot of people were disappointed with the postponement but i haven't heard anybody who didn't support the postponement because of the safety concerns. >> mayor vincent gray from washington, d.c., thank you so much. i know it's going to be a long night and maybe a long couple of days for you, thank you. >> thank you very much. somebody who is usually there in washington, d.c., but who has been doing long duty for us in alexandria, virginia, is nbc's luke russert, luke how is it looking right now? >> reporter: right across the river from where mayor gray was, chris, the rain is still falling. it's intensifying coming sideways for a point, it dissipated for a little bit, expected to pick back up within the next hour. we're looking forward here,
