Nick Mullens wasn't very good in 2020. He was 2-6 in his starts, threw for 12 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, and ended his season prematurely due to a painful elbow injury (he's since had surgery).
But he was still an instrumental cog in a disappointing team, someone whose future in San Francisco has been the subject of much speculation. As it turns out, the 49ers don't sound too inclined to bring him back — at least anytime soon.

Gotta give credit where credit is due: San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch continues to signal his unwavering support for current Niners quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
“I’ve watched people go through this in their careers where they struggled early," Lynch recently said on "The Eye Test for Two" podcast. "It happened to me early, and then I went eight years without missing a practice. So I believe things can happen, and I believe they will for him. I really believe that Jimmy is our guy.”

After dazzling the A’s enough in just 27 games to make them express a strong interest in re-signing him, Tommy La Stella is instead moving across the Bay.
The Giants are finalizing a deal with the left-handed-hitting second baseman, according to multiple reports.
La Stella, 31, helped the A’s to the division title last year, batting .289 after coming from the Angels in a trade-deadline deal. He also recorded eight hits in the postseason, including a homer in the ALDS against Houston, and put up a .951 OPS in that series. A’s vice president of baseball operations Billy Beane told The Chronicle in September that re-signing La Stella was “at the top of the list” of the team’s priorities.

As the Warriors begin to outpace expectations this season, one of their recent second-round picks is impressing overseas.
Shooting guard
Justinian Jessup, the No. 51 selection in November’s draft out of Boise State, has emerged as a key sharpshooter for The Hawks of Australia’s National Basketball League. In two games with them, he is averaging 14.5 points on 60% shooting (62.5% from 3-point range), 4.5 rebounds and 1 assist in 29.9 minutes.
Jessup’s 24-point outburst in The Hawks’ win Monday over the Cairns Taipans, which included a 4-for-4 showing from beyond the arc, reinforced the Warriors’ belief that he could be an asset for Golden State as soon as next season.

Tipoff of the Warriors’ game against the Jazz in Salt Lake City on Saturday has been moved from 2 p.m. PST to 6 p.m. PST, Golden State announced Wednesday morning.
Per a Warriors source, the game was pushed back to accommodate additional coronavirus testing. This should help curtail the spread of the virus at a time when case numbers are spiking throughout the league.
