Netflix paid around $550,000 in tax in Australia despite estimates it brought in more than $1 billion in revenue from its subscribers in 2020 who had little else to do during COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns than binge its television and movies.
The US-based streaming giant is slowly increasing the amount of income tax it pays locally, coughing up $553,705 for the 2020 calendar year, up from $485,371 in 2019 which was an increase on the $341,793 paid in 2018.

However, the company continues to use a corporate structure allowing a Netherlands-based subsidiary to recognise Australian revenue, estimated to be between $700 million and $1.4 billion.

Dixit, in her series debut, plays a global superstar, wife and mother in "Finding Anamika".
Directed by Karishma Kohli and Bejoy Nambiar and produced by Karan Johar's Dharmatic, the series revolves around Madhuri's character and what happens when she suddenly vanishes without a trace.
In "Aranyak", produced by Roy Kapur Films and Ramesh Sippy Entertainment, Tandon plays a cop Kasturi who joins hands with her city-bred replacement Angad (Parambrata Chatterjee) when a foreign teenage tourist disappears in a Himalayan town. The series, also Tandon's digital debut, is directed by Vinay Vyakul.
"'Aranyak' is an intriguing and mysterious story. I can't say much about that but my character is Kasturi Dogra and like many women, she is balancing her career and family. It is set in Himachal Pradesh. She wants to do well in her career but is held back sometimes due to other responsibilities," Tandon said in a virtual press conference.

Poland’s VOD Levy Yields Almost 2 m EUR in 2020
WARSAW: Digital companies operating in Poland paid 1.986 m EUR / 8.92 m PLN in the first six months since the new VOD levy was introduced in 2020.
The fee for on-demand audiovisual media services on the internet was introduced at the beginning of July as part of the anti-crisis shield 3.0. The levy amounts to either 1.5 percent user fee or ad revenue, whichever is higher for the individual business. The levy must be paid each quarter to the Polish Film Institute. 
These funds will be allocated to the Polish Film Institute’s Operational Programmes for film production, organisation of festivals and other film events, support for cinemas and promotion of Polish film abroad.

Netflix Australia paid less than $500,000 in tax for the 2019 calendar year despite more than an estimated 5 million subscribers paying at least $9.99 a month.
That is because the revenue from Australian subscribers – estimated between $670 million and $1.2 billion – flows to a Netflix company resident in the Netherlands.
Australia’s tax system has not evolved to capture all the revenue earned by international tech companies from Australian consumers and businesses. 
In the 2019 calendar year, Netflix Australia paid income tax of $485,371, up from $341,793 in the 2018 year, according to Australian Securities and Investments Commission filings.
In 2019, Netflix had three tiers for its streaming service: $9.99 for basic, $13.99 for standard and $19.99 for premium. However, Netflix increased the price of its premium tier in October 2019 from $17.99.
