During the episode, Gillis' monologue briefly acknowledged the firing before making a series of jokes about his family that were met with mixed reactions. The comedian paid homage to his Pennsylvania roots by wearing an Eagles hoodie in SNL promotional photos.
Comedian and actor Kevin Hart will become the 25th winner of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor presented by the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. The North Philadelphia native will join a list of past winners that includes Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Tina Fey, Dave Chappelle and Adam Sandler. He'll be given the award at a Kennedy Center gala on March 24, 2024.

Kevin Hart has been named Entertainment Person of the Year at Cannes Lions, an international festival focused on success in advertising, communications and entertainment. Hart is the third person to receive the honor, after Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos and "Saturday Night Live" executive producer Lorne Michaels. The comedian was recognized for the success of Hartbeat Productions, his film and television company that has produced projects like "Dave," "Me Time," "Fatherhood," "True Story" and "Die Hart." He will formally accept the award and deliver a speech at Cannes Lions on June 20.
Comedian Kevin Hart's father, Henry Witherspoon, died this week at 73 years old. Hart, who grew up in North Philadelphia, has been open in recent years about his father's battle with drug addiction during his childhood. Later in life, Hart was able to repair his relationship with his dad and help him get clean.
Jordan Jensen and Steven Rogers will both be featured performers in Next In Line Comedy's new lineup of comedy shows this month. Jensen will perform two sets on May 7 and Roberts will perform on May 20. Tickets for each show can be purchased online and cost $10-$15.
Next In Line Comedy is featuring up-and-coming stand-up comedians for $20 or less at Franky Bradley's and other venues in the city. The first show will feature Devon Walker on Saturday, Oct. 16. Other scheduled comedians include Ismael Loutfi and Blake Wexler.
