Following several smaller announcements the Sony World Photography Awards has revealed its overall prizes. Adam Ferguson took the Photographer of the Year title with series of self-portraits of migrants waiting to cross the border into the United States.
Adam Ferguson has been named Photographer of the Year in the Sony World Photography Awards 2022 for his project Migrantes, which is a series of black and white portraits of made in collaboration with the subjects, who were migrants waiting to cross into the USA from Mexico.
“The tension and the drama for me just felt completely symbolic of the challenges these horses face in the American West today, where they basically are under permanent threat of roundup and their land has invariably been cleared for the cattle industry.”
