Taking a dive into Seattle Indie Bookstore Day

When I go to collect my passport on Seattle Indie Bookstore Day, the University Book Store is abounding with energy. There are tables laden with free pins, stickers, and bookmarks

Celebrating Independent Bookstore Day

Independent Bookstore Day was held this past Saturday in both the U.S. and Canada. Booksellers were delighted with the return of the annual holiday celebrating bookselling, and turnout, they agreed, was excellent.

Slog PM: It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like a Very Viral Christmas

Big news: We've selected our Crow of the Year. Bigger news: Here's a sentence we hate to see: "Washington state could see its highest level of coronavirus cases by the end of 2021." Trevor Bedford with the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center expects to see over 2,000 Omicron COVID-19 cases a day in King County by next week. I expect case loads to climb suddenly and rapidly in a large number of well connected cities...

Seattle Independent Bookstore Day Is Back for 2021

Seattle Independent Bookstore Day Is Back for 2021
The local seller celebration retains its book passport but is now both virtual and IRL, and runs for 10 days.

Madison Books is one of the stores participating in this year's altered Independent Bookstore Day.
This year Seattle Independent Bookstore Day is a “day” in the way that Seattle Restaurant Week is a week—not even slightly. The annual celebration of indie sellers was mostly canceled last year (pandemic). This year (still pandemic) it’s spread across 10 days (April 24–May 3) and straddles online and brick and mortar—all to make the typical tsunami of book people more of a gently lapping tide.
