fired ten days ago? >> there are two things to remember based off today's testimony that will be lost because there were so many interesting and surprising revelations. one, general milley also spoke about something that's been reported, but nevereard him talk about on the record. that was a memo that he got from the white house, late 2020, ordering all u.s. troops, all u.s. troops out of afghanistan by mid january, and he talked about the proce of that a little bit today, how ultimately with the pentagon recommendations and guidance that was rescinded. that was under president trump. that was the first time we heard general milley talk specically about that happening, even though i had been reported. the second thing you have to remember is while we had general mckenzie, general mille saying they recommended keeping u.s.

The Importance of a Quality Laboratory Label

Mar 12 2021 Read 1013 Times
Without taking into consideration the current climate and the pandemic - it is said that more than 800 million test samples travel through the NHS domain during a ‘normal’ 12-month period, therefore traceability is crucial to managing this vast volume of test data. A freezer full of test samples - weeks' worth of research work - could easily be jeopardised due to poor quality labels, resulting in compromised traceability due to illegibility, smudging or even missing labels, causing chaos within the laboratory.
Unlabelled or spoilt specimens create extra work and further investigation to review any problems, wasting precious time and resources. This can cause inevitable delays in processing and patients are left even longer than normal awaiting test results. Choosing and managing the labelling aspect of this process is of paramount importance and should be carefully considered to ensure the success of all labelling with the laboratory environment.

Two New Pressure-blanketed Process Thermostats Announced

Mar 10 2021 Read 158 Times
Lauda expands its portfolio for demanding temperature control tasks with two devices of the new, pressure-blanketed Integral P variant and a new, high-performance device of the T variant, and will also offer models with NRTL certification for the North American market in future. The new products are accompanied by the MID 80 through-flow control unit, which enables reproducible test processes.
The two device types, Integral IN 2050 PW and IN 2560 PW, function according to the pressure blanketing principle. The devices, which are equipped with a stainless steel pressure vessel, significantly expand the temperature range of flammable heat carriers. For example, the upper temperature limit of water/glycol mixtures, which are commonly used in tests in the automotive industry, can be increased from 90°C to 140°C. Consequently, the new Integral P process thermostats enable testing of drive systems or stress tests under realistic conditions at low operating costs. Integral P process thermostats can be used within a working temperature range from -40°C to 140°C with a cooling capacity of 20 kW and 25 kW, respectively. The devices are ideal for use in test stations for the testing of electric motors or batteries in the electric mobility sector.

Hydrogen has recently received the essential worldwide recognition required for decarbonisation to combat climate change resulted from greenhouse gas emissions. We will soon see a similarly high level of recognition for the complementary role that carbon capture and storage (CCS) can play.
There are 26 operating CCS schemes worldwide. Many are related to enhanced oil recovery in the United States and Canada. Several more exist in Europe and the APAC region. In the next decade, this number is likely to increase ten-fold to become 300 schemes or more.

Demand spurs Investment in Production Capacity

Demand spurs Investment in Production Capacity
Mar 10 2021 Read 309 Times
In response to the current high demand for viral transport media, which has been intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic, Teknova has constructed dedicated new clean rooms, designed from scratch to meet the ISO 13485 and GMP standards required for production of its saline, VTM and ATM products.  The company also invested in advanced, high-throughput automated lines, significantly streamlining the media production process. Vice President of Engineering, Jose Olague, said: “Automating the manufacturing process enabled us to rapidly scale up production from 300,000 to over 1 million tubes per week, and control contamination risks even more tightly. The larger production volumes also mean we can offer an extremely competitive price on our transport media, ensuring value for customers and greater access to these important products.”

Next-Generation Centrifugation BioProcess Container Enables Closed-System Handling of Critical Sterile Liquids

Mar 06 2021 Read 1934 Times
Bioprocess researchers undertaking high-density mammalian, bacterial or microbial cell culture separations can now benefit from a next-generation single-use, sterilised, closed-system BioProcess Container (BPC) designed to offer a highly efficient alternative for harvesting by centrifugation.
Developed specifically for use with the Thermo Scientific Sorvall BIOS 16 Centrifuge, the single-use, sterilised, closed-system Thermo Scientific CentriPAK BPC enables optimal protection of critical sterile liquids from cross-contamination typically associated with reusable containers. The CentriPAK BPC can be used to process culture volumes of between 3 and 500 L, facilitating high-throughput and high-efficiency cell biomass or clarified supernatant harvesting to maximise laboratory productivity. Furthermore, there are no time-consuming, labour-intensive and costly preparation and post-use cleaning steps involved.
