Pelosi praises Republicans who 'courageously' voted for Jan. 6 commission

The House on Wednesday passed a bill to form such a commission on a 252-175 vote, with 35 Republicans joining all Democrats in support.
When asked at her weekly press conference what the vote says about the GOP, Pelosi implored Republicans to “take back your party.”

“This is the Grand Old Party, the party’s done so much for our country. And quite frankly, many Republicans have courageously withstood the — shall we say — the assault on our democracy that is going forth,” Pelosi said.
“When you think of the Republicans and you think courage that they’ve had in the electoral system in our country and election decisions that have been made to support the fact that the election was legitimate. Many Republicans were the ones who came forward,” she continued.

R Street Institute Applauds Formation of January 6 Commission
WASHINGTON (May 14, 2021)—The R Street Institute applauds the news [1] that the House of Representatives will form a Commission to investigate the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Jonathan Bydlak, Director of R Street’s Governance Program, asserts, “Regardless of one’s political or ideological views, today’s announcement is a bold leadership stand by Chairman Bennie Thompson and Ranking Member John Katko. January 6, 2021 is a stain on our nation’s history. It is critical that our duly elected representatives investigate the tragic events of that day.”
Bydlak adds, “As R Street and many of our allies in civil society have argued, it’s essential that this investigative effort be bipartisan—and indeed, nonpartisan—with an eye toward truth. The entire Homeland Security Committee should be applauded for their willingness to come together to do just that.”
