Polls are open now and the closest thing we have to super tuesday in this Election Year and control of the u. S. Senate is really whats on the line in 2014. It will be defined by the battle for the senate. Given the national environment, republican prospects of regaining control are pretty bright but there are two potential speed bumps and both states that have primaries today, georgia and kentucky. In kentucky, Mitch Mcconnell has waged a Ruthless Campaign to undermine challenger matt bevins credibility. Now right now we should stress no connection between last nights shootings and this weeks protests has been established, but after a third night of protests, what is clear is that tensions between residents of ferguson and the police remain high. Reporter after another day of tension and another night capped off by violence, people on all sides of the line are hunkering down. I spoke with the police chief last night and he fears for the lives of his officers. I talked to residents today who are concerned that last nights shooting and the continued lack of answers will continue to spur more tension. Remember four years ago when he lost control of the Republican House, the president called it a shellacking. Today he basically said he needs a stiff drink. He wasas referring to having a kentucky bourbon with presumptive majority leader in the senate, Mitch Mcconnell. Not that he was going to drown his sorrows. I and others pressed him repeatedly on his comment during the campaign about how his policies were on the ballot and will he take personal responsibility, what is he going to change about his leadership, just broad brush.
