To commemorate the anniversary, the Greater Birmingham Convention and Visitor Bureau teamed up with Georgia Coach Lines to wrap a tour bus with iconic photographs from the movement, serving as a traveling billboard of the rich history in Birmingham.
Birmingham, Alabama, a city central to the Civil Rights Movement, offers history as well as growing cuisine and sports scenes to draw meetings and conventions to “The Magic City.” Dubbed “the dinner table of the South,” Birmingham’s impressive culinary offerings have included six James Beard Award winners and three recent James Beard Award semifinalists: Pizza Grace, Bottega and Tim Hontzas, chef/owner of Johnny’s Restaurant.

Conservation leader Sara Hamlin finishing master’s studies OXFORD, Ohio Great Bend resident Sara Hamlin has been applying the tools of science, education and conservation to become a leader in the conservation community. In mid-December 2020, Hamlin will conclude her master’s course of study with a Master of Arts degree in biology from Miami University through Project Dragonfly. Since joining the GFP (Global Field Program) master’s in 2018, Hamlin has traveled to Baja, Borneo, engaged with global conservationists in action projects through a new online course, and conducted projects that have made a difference in the Great Bend area.
