Cunningham Named National Indoor Track Scholar-Athlete of the Year; 19 Noles Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. - 19 Florida State track and field athletes were named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Wednesday afternoon. 10 women and nine men were named to the team. Four athletes accomplished a 4.00 GPA for the spring semester. I'm very proud of all of our athletes on this list. We have had great academic success over the years in our program, and this year was no different, Head Coach Bob Braman said. On the women's side, three athletes recorded 4.0 GPA's. CoSIDA Academic All-Americans Maudie Skyring and Ruby Stauber were each named to the list. Stauber is getting her masters in sport management while Skyring is pursuing her degree in exercise physiology. Alyson Churchill also had a 4.0 during the spring as she pursues her degrees in psychology and international affairs. CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The FSU track and field team had a productive day one at the Virginia Challenge, as six distance runners posted FSU all-time top ten performances Saturday night in Charlottesville, Va. I'm really pleased with our performances today, Head Coach Bob Braman said. We always want to lock in a time for regionals, and we did that today along with several FSU top ten performances. Matthew Owens was the first of six Noles to post a top ten performance Saturday night. Owens clocked a personal best time of 8:51.40 in the 3000m steeplechase. Owen moved to No. 5 on the FSU all-time list just two weeks after his previous personal best at the Florida Relays. Amanda Beach is quietly having a very productive season for the Noles. After cracking the top ten list in the 10,000m run on Mar. 25 at the Raleigh Relays, Beach posted another top ten time, this time in the 5000m run. Top Service Highlighted at Golden Nole Awards

Tallahassee, Fla.   –  The 28th Golden Nole Awards were presented on Monday night by the FSU Student Athlete Advisory Council inside Doak Campbell Stadium. The event highlights the contributions made in the community and recognizes student-athletes that have been exceptional leaders in and out of the athletics arena.  “It was a perfect night to celebrate our student-athletes,” FSU director of student-athlete development and events said. “We haven’t been able to gather like this in years and to be back together in this setting is incredible.
