watching that night? >> i think over 40,000 shells are going to be launched during the festivities. >> wow. >> on fourth of july. so it's truly spectacular show to be there in person obviously and 3 million new yorkers will join us there on the banks of the hudson river, but it's equally impressive on television, and there's a whole soundtrack synchronized to the show, so it's just an amazing show and i'm honored to obviously be the host and to be a part of it. >> i know you're used to loud music and loud noises, there's a lot of noise during that entire celebration. how 'd you get involved in this whole thing, by the way? >> well, i'm hosting the singoff on nbc as well, so i think it was just a logical transition for me to step over and be the fireworks host this year. i've performed a few years back and having lived in new york went down numerous times to watch the show. about you this year as the host i'm hoping to have the best seat in the house right there on the front row.
>> i'm sorry. why isn't it picked up? >> a lot of people want to get their hands on this very pilot. when the pilot leaks is going to be an epic news event in the he will vision world because apparently it wasn't working out creatively the way they had seen it. all along we've been hearing all these flaws. first the script was said to be very flawed when insiders got their hands on it. the costumes were under a lot of scrutiny. it just creatively he said it didn't mesh. >> from what you have seen in the lineup from all the lineups, what is going to be the next show that everyone says is a great show. >> right now it's really hard to put my finger on it. i think what networks are trying to go for right now is a lot of comedy. i think it's a great time for that. the dramatic series we've done for a while. "brothers and sisters" being a perfect example. the focus will be on comedy and the singing competitions even though the "singoff" is not a new program. it is coming back this fall which is unprecedented for it
