Five defenders but still so open
Jose Mourinho certainly wasn't taking any chances with Spurs' leaky defence which had conceded five goals in the past two games.

Everton 2-2 Tottenham: Jose Mourinho unable to shed light on possible Harry Kane injury
Harry Kane suffered a late injury after scoring twice to rescue a point for Tottenham against Everton at Goodison Park.
Nine days before the Carabao Cup final and 58 days before England's European Championship opener, Kane limped off in stoppage time with an apparent ankle problem.
The striker seemed to land awkwardly after jumping for a header when defending a corner late on.
Manager Jose Mourinho said he did not know how serious the injury was.

THERE IS ART to be found in everything: even a midweek League Cup game between Longford Town and Home Farm at an almost entirely-empty Whitehall.
It was in that game 20 years ago Adrian Duncan earned his one and only first-team appearance for his home-town club, brought on as a half-time substitute in a 3-1 defeat.

Rangers and Slavia Prague suspensions have highlighted Uefa's depressing stance on racism

Card image cap

YESTERDAY was another depressing day for football and the sport’s fight against racism.
Slavia Prague defender Ondrej Kudela was handed a ten-game ban after racially abusing Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara during a Europa League last 16 match in early March.
Almost a month has passed since the fixture and Uefa finally made the decision that Kudela’s disgusting remark was worthy of a few matches seated on the naughty step in the stands.
Kudela will miss the remainder of this year’s tournament and also the European Championships this summer, where he would have been in action for the Czech Republic.

Facebook's independent Oversight Board announced on April 13 it would start accepting requests to remove "harmful content" that users believe has been wrongly allowed to remain on the leading social network. AFP
Marcus Rashford, Sadio Mane, Jude Bellingham, Rabbi Matondo and many others have already experienced it: racist abuse on social media.
Due to the amount of xenophobic and racist comments online, English Championship side Swansea City as well as the Scottish football champions Rangers have boycotted all social media platforms for a week since last Thursday.

West Brom Albion contacted the force again after the team's forward Callum Robinson received abundant racist messages after the team won against Chelsea 5-2 earlier this month.
This comes after the likes of Thierry Henry and several other footballers have expressed that they have experienced racial abuse and harassment on social media.
Last month, the french forward Thierry Henry announced that he was stepping back from social media until bosses strictly regulate their platforms.
Speaking of his experience of social media on
Good Morning Britain, he said: "It's not a safe place at the minute. People are getting racially abused."

Henderson: Why I handed my social media over to Cybersmile
Jordan Henderson has used his column in the matchday programme for Wednesday's fixture with Real Madrid to explain the decision to hand over his social media channels to the Cybersmile Foundation.
The Liverpool captain writes: “When people read these programme notes, they might like them, they might dislike them, they might wish I’d said something different or that I had talked about a subject that’s particularly important to them.
“The beauty of a publication like this, though, is that all such thoughts will remain just that. There is no capacity for comments, which means there is no risk of the kind of abuse which continues to make social media a place that becomes toxic and at times unusable.

Son Heung-Min was racially abused online after Sunday's match.
Tottenham Hotspur has condemned the "abhorrent" online abuse directed at star player Son Heung-Min after the side's 3-1 Premier League defeat by Manchester United on Sunday.
The 28-year-old had been involved in one of the game's key moments when he was adjudged to have been fouled by Scott McTominay in the build-up to the visitor's first goal -- scored by Edinson Cavani -- which was then disallowed by a call made with the video assistant referee (VAR).

‘Not many like this’: Petr Cech stunned by reported £50m Arsenal and West Ham target

Premier League legend Petr Cech isn’t surprised to see Slavia Prague striker Abdallah Sima attracting the interest of clubs such as Arsenal and West Ham United, speaking to iSport.
Last Thursday’s Europa League quarter-final felt particularly pertinent for Slavia’s 19-year-old attacker.
After all, Sima has spent the past four months being heavily linked with a big-money move to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
And although the teen sensation missed an opportunity to impress at the home of his potential employers, putting in a largely anonymous performance in north London, Sima’s stunning exploits throughout 2020/21 mean he’s certain to be in demand during the summer transfer window.

Women's football Leah Williamson believes teammates can come together and boycott social media

LEAH WILLIAMSON feels a lot of England players would join collective action with regard to social media if it was deemed the most effective thing to do in the effort to combat online abuse.
In the last few days Rangers, Birmingham and Swansea have announced week-long boycotts of social-media platforms in a stand against abuse and discrimination.
Thierry Henry last month disabled his accounts as he described racism on social media as “too toxic to ignore.”
At a press conference today prior to England’s friendly against Canada, defender Williamson was asked about individuals and clubs coming off social media, where she stood with regard to collective action, and if it had been discussed in the camp.
