Were getting the worst it was right now. We told you this storm would peak midday today and thats what were seeing. It might have started a little bit late but that main window between 11 00 and 4 00 is what weve been focusing in on. Well show you who is getting the snow as we speak and i zoomed in here across the d. C. Area. Its coming down in some of those heavier be spots around be bethesda towards fairfax, reston and ashburn. Its start to go enter into places like largo, upper marb marlboro and into bowie. Some have a good coating on the roadway here to damascus and were getting reports now in sterling that you have 1 2 inch of snow on the ground. Heres a look at a time lapse from Oakdale High School and it shows the snow showers moving in. Look at how quickly it started accumulating on the grassy areas while the parking lot is still looking wet. Thats one of the main reports ive been hearing over and over is that its thick on the grass but most of the streets are doing fine. Well

Situation and conditions they are in at this hour. Northern Virginia Bureau chief Jeff Goldberg is live in leesburg. Jeff . Well maureen talking about the temperatures, it certainly feels a lot colder now than it did maybe an hour or two ago and this was the rush hour. A lot of people are concerned about, but its not prooufb to be any problems. This is route 7 in leesburg. Very busy road. Its been clear for most of the day. This cold and the snow really the pavement not cold enough for it to stick. Its been warm on the roads so things not sticking. Not creating a lot of slipping and sliding. Certainly good news. All over leesburg though and all over the place, we saw trucks out there getting a good workout. Certainly happy about getting that work after somewhat slow winter time. Very picturesque scene out here in leesburg. Looks like a snow globe. All over the place, we were on the roads in ashburn, chantilly and herndon as well. Drivers. In leesburg very picturesque and had that snow globe effect for most of mid morning and early afternoon. We were on the roads in ashburn, chantilly and herndon as well. Drivers were taking it easy and driving with caution. That was good news. Vdot had 800 plows treating and salting the roads across Northern Virginia. Did seem like they were all over the place. Drivers we spoke with said that the roads seemed fine but they were hoping for a smooth rush hour. A little skittish maybe, yeah. I think its because its whiting out a little bit for people. Other than, that the roads are fine. I think everybodys driving, you know sensibly. Just starting to get wet mostly. But temperature keeps dropping. Well have problems. Thats a concern for some of the drivers if the temperature drops. This snow has been the hard, wet packed snow. Good for making snowballs and im sure thats what a lot of kids were doing out here. Afternoon and Evening Activities Canceled in arlington and fairfax. Comi

Now, there were some people who did say that there were times when the roads werent that good. Heres what one woman had to say that we spoke with. A lot of the side roads are not really plowed yet. But i know they have to make that call a lot earlier in the day. Yeah, i was kind of expecting them to be let out early. As we were driving here 270 north and on 495 north as we were coming into frederick, there were a lot of trucks that were out. Trucks are mostly under overpasses, they were off to the side of the road and they werent doing much work at all. Probably because theyre waiting for the temperatures to drop. As we heard just a few minutes ago, it is 34 degrees here in frederick. The roads are wet. But as that temperature starts to fall thats when the problems could really start oc
