Nine Seminoles Earn ALL-ACC Academic Honors

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women’s tennis team had nine student-athletes earn All-ACC Academic honors as Vic Allen, Alice Amendola, Anna Arkadianou, Millie Bissett, Olympe Lancelot, Kristyna Lavickova, Kianah Motosono, Ellie Schoppe, and Mila Saric made the All-ACC Academic Team, which was announced Wednesday. The Seminoles earned a 3.69 grade-point average in the 2022-2023 academic year and a program high 3.77 spring semester GPA. The team had nine earn a 3.5 GPA or higher, which included five 4.0 GPAs in the spring season. Academic requirements for the selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade-point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests. Florida State looks to continue to excel in the classroom and the courts as many of the starters are expected to return in the 2023-2024 season. Three Seminoles Appear in Final ITA Rankings

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women’s tennis team boasts two individuals in the final ITA national singles rankings and one pair in the doubles rankings. Anna Arkadianou ended the spring season ranked 74th and Vic Allen is 89th in the national singles rankings. Freshman Millie Bissett and Arkadianou finished 70th in the national doubles rankings. Arkadianou was ranked in singles for 11 consecutive weeks and was as high as No. 52 in the nation. The Greece native earned six wins in the spring season, one of them being a 6-2, 6-2 victory over 24th-ranked Kylie Bilchev of No. 20 Georgia Tech. Allen finished with a 15-7 record, which included seven victories against ranked opponents. The England native’s biggest win came against 42nd-ranked Anna Brylin of No. 5 NC State. Allen was ranked in singles for seven consecutive weeks and reached No. 73 in the nation on the week of April 23rd. Bissett and Arkadianou finished with an 8-4 record at No. 2 doubles. The duo’s biggest victory came against the 9th-ranked duo of Amella Rajecki and Nell Miller from No. 5 NC State. The pair was ranked for seven consecutive weeks and were as high as No. 49 on the week of March 21st. All three student-athletes are eligible to return next season to help Florida State compete for an ACC championship and return to the NCAA Tournament. No. 24 Florida State Travels To Athens for NCAA Tournament

TALLAHASSEE – The No. 24 Florida State women’s tennis team (16-10, 8-7 ACC) travels to Athens, Georgia, to face Illinois (18-8, 8-3 Big Ten) in the NCAA Tournament on Friday. The Seminoles enter this weekend ranked 24th, which is the highest this season, after winning seven of the last eight matches. Florida State is led by junior Anna Arkadianou, who is 64th nationally in singles and 52nd in doubles alongside freshman Millie Bissett. Senior Vic Allen enters the weekend with 14 wins in the spring of 2023 and is ranked 73rd in the nation. Florida State has 18 program victories in the NCAA Tournament dating back to 2000, including 16 from head coach Jen Hyde. Hyde has led the Seminoles to two quarterfinals in two of the previous four seasons. The Seminoles are 7-3 in the series history against Illinois. Illinois comes into this weekend's matchup ranked No. 36 in the nation. Kate Duong and Megan Heuser lead Illinois with 15 wins at No. 1 doubles and are ranked 20th in the nation. Friday’s match begins at 10 a.m. at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. No. 4 Georgia and Florida A&M follow with a match at 1 p.m. The winner of each match will meet in the second round on May 6 at 4 p.m. Live stats and video will be available on Seminoles.com. Florida State Moves Up To No. 24 In Rankings

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women’s tennis team (16-10, 8-7 ACC) moved up to No. 24 in the latest ITA rankings released Tuesday. The Seminoles are climbing up in the rankings after winning six of their last seven matches, including a 4-0 win against Louisville in the second round of the ACC Championships. The victory against Louisville helped Florida State advance to the quarterfinal round of the ACC Tournament for the 26th time in school history. Florida State’s 16 wins this season include six ranked wins victories and two victories over top-20 opponents. Senior Vic Allen boasts a team-high 14 wins in the spring and is ranked No. 73 in the nation. Junior Anna Arkadianou has won two consecutive matches, including a victory over the 24th-ranked singles player in America, and is 64th in singles. Arkadianou and freshman Millie Bissett, who are 8-2 as a pair in dual matches, are ranked 52nd in doubles. Florida State will find out its NCAA Tournament destination Monday.
