This happened this afternoon. Those cars cost about 2 million each. Bart says at this point, its a good thing it happened when it did. They said if something were to happen to this car, they wanted it to happen before people got on. Now, the plan is to put these cars into service sometime around december. But this point they have to figure out what happened today in hayward. Live in hayward, andria borba, kpix 5. New at 6 00 a rash of mail thefts is causing headaches for hundreds of people in one part of the bay area. They are now forced to go to the post office and wait in long lines to pick up their mail. This is after a series of mailbox thefts in vallejo and American Canyon. Emily turner outside a post office in vallejo and you spoke with some of these frustrated folks. Reporter yeah. And there are several different ways that these crooks are getting into the mailboxes but the important thing that the post office wants you to know is that they are investigating it. They know whats
90 cents of every dollar. Idaho still has to come up with 10 cents out of every dollar spent, and has to pay for the cost of administering the program. Its a cost idaho simple cannot afford. The answer is not throw money at a model that is broken. The answer is create a new model, and theres one working in the state of washington. You pay a provider privately and combine that with a wrap around catastrophic model, and its cheaper and it works better, and you get to see your doctor 24 7 if you want it. Doctors are happier. And it works beautifully. Patients are happy. Doctors are happy. Its more Cost Effective and does not involve adding additional financial burden to idaho by expanding medicare. Working on that proposal should be in the next legislative session. I look forward to that bill being presented because i would sign it into law. All right, because of the coin toss, we have twominute closing remarks, and you start and you conclude. Thank you. Ladies and gentleman, thank you fo
We wait until kids get really really sick, and then we take them into the medicaid program. In the next few years, half the countrys going to have either diabetes or prediabetes. The issue is healthy food. And getting healthy food to our citizens. This is one piece of it. And we need to do a better job with the s. N. A. P. Program. But just to cut these benefits and just wait until they drive up costs because theyre eating bad food is not the right approach. I yield back the balance of my time. Thank you. Miss louhan grisham . I thank my colleague from wisconsin. My home state, you often hear me talk about this, is one of the hungriest states in the United States. And this budget only makes it worse. It will jeopardize the ability of veterans, seniors, the disabled and children to get the nutrition that they need to be healthy. Its estimated that approximately 900,000 veterans nationwide live in households that rely on s. N. A. P. In my district at Kirkland Air Force base, they have a
Saying lets give states the ultimate flexibility and to innovate according to our to their unique characteristics. In michigan, in the year 2000, we had between 1 and 8 and 1 in 9 michigan residents on medicaid. Now we have 1 in 4 on medicaid. As we notice across the country, over 30 of physicians are not even accepting new medicaid patients. And this is at the same time when federal reimbursement rates for medicaid are being cut across the country. So it is not a sustainable program. I think what this does is puts us in a far better path to innovate and to encourage healthy behaviors, and get on a more sustainable path for the future. And i yield back. I thank the gentleman. I yield the remainder of the time, mr. Westmoreland. Mr. Westerman, excuse me. Thank you. I will be brief. And just reiterate some of the things that have already said. In my state, not only do we we have not a fourth of the population getting medicaid services, but a third of the population getting medicaid servi
Stop people at their time. Ms. Moore so in that order, representative lee, ryan and lujan. I will stop you. Ms. Lee we know you will. Let me thank you, congresswoman moore, for once again offering this amendment to protect nutrition assistance. You know from personal experience, i know from personal experience, many know that the majority of people dont want to be on food stamps or on snap. They want a job, they want to take care of their families and live the American Dream. Snap helped lift 5,000 people out of poverty in 2013 alone, including 2. 1 million children. In fact, more than 70 of snap participants are families with children. People in every state and in every Congressional District experience food hardship. Yet this republican budget continues the trend of decimating Food Assistance in the longterm and hinkering with block grants which are really schemes that could endanger Food Assistance delivery. Whats worse, and let me mention the c. B. O. Report our democratic whip ste
