WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court on Tuesday night began to clear the way for the execution of Lisa Montgomery, who is scheduled to die by lethal injection - the first woman to face the federal death penalty in nearly seven decades.
The court granted a request from the Justice Department to vacate a divided federal appeals court that would have delayed her execution until after President Donald Trump leaves office next week.
The court s three liberals - Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan - dissented. ....
