"It's fun to see partners at KKR and Silver Lake and Carlyle interacting with Todd Gurley," Patricof said, referring to the star running back. "You watch for the first 15 minutes how nervous and shy these PE guys are, and it takes a while to ease into the conversations."

The Seahawks added to their list of impressive offseason moves Thursday with the signing of veteran DE Aldon Smith. 12s are likely familiar with Smith given the 44 sacks he amassed as a member of the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2014, but after four whole years out of the NFL, Smith experienced a career renaissance with the Dallas Cowboys last season, recording 5 sacks and 14 quarterback hits over 16 starts. He'll look to bolster a Seahawks defensive line that features fellow newcomers Kerry Hyder Jr. and Al Woods (who's on his third stint in Seattle), along with Carlos Dunlap II, Poona Ford and Benson Mayowa, all of whom the Seahawks were able to retain in free agency after combining for 14.0 sacks with Seattle in 2020.

After trading their 2021 and 2022 first-round selections to the Jets for safety Jamal Adams, the Seahawks will have to make the most out of the second and third days of the next two drafts. Thankfully for them, the latter rounds of the draft have been rather kind to them in the Pete Carroll and John Schneider era. 
Today, we're looking at 10 players they've drafted on day two since 2010. They've undeniably dominated this day historically, hauling in a pair of future Hall of Famers, including a franchise quarterback, and a handful of other significant contributors to their recent success. Let's dive in, going by chronological order.

A bit of cheating, yes, but these two are interlocked and have similar Jaguars origin stories. A former Cowboys Round 2 pick, Smith caught on with the Jags in 1995 on a low-end deal. McCardell, an ex-Browns auxiliary wideout, joined him a year later. No Jaguar receiving tandem has approached their work, and their first four seasons together produced six 1,000-yard campaigns between them and four Jacksonville playoff berths. Both landed higher-paying extensions, but the Jags capitalized on the exclusive negotiating rights that came with signing the duo in the mid-'90s. The partnership lasted six years.

The NFL's D-line pass rusher GOAT had quality sidekicks, particularly during his Eagles days. A ninth-round pick, Simmons beat the odds to become a longtime sack artist; his 121.5 are 21st all time. White's most common Philly D-end counterpart was a two-time All-Pro, leading the NFL with 19.5 sacks in 1992. Simmons, White, and Brown -- a Hall of Fame-caliber talent at D-tackle -- all made the 1991 All-Pro team. Brown's tragic 1992 death hit the Eagles hard, but White and Simmons were teammates for seven years. White during that time: six All-Pros, 21 sacks in a 12-game season. The power rusher's Philly years are some of the best by a defender ever.
