No forum. No health study. Did Pittsfield oversell DPH help with cell tower concerns?

The Pittsfield Board of Health s plan to get state help in assessing the validity of a new cell tower s reported health consequences has been derailed. The state Department of Public Health has been offering information and referrals, but will not conduct a health study, a spokeswoman says. This new Verizon Wireless tower went into operation last summer, near Alma Street in south Pittsfield.

Health Dept. Will Investigate Health Concerns Related To Tower

This has now been going on for some time for folks who live around the Verizon cell tower. In February, the City Council voted to have the Health Department investigate health concerns related to the tower. This petition was brought forward by Ward 4 Councilor Chris Connell and Ward 5 Councilor Patrick Kavey, whose wards are in proximity to the tower. Local health officials are now stepping up and supporting the investigation of concerns related to a 115-foot Verizon cell tower at 877 South St. in a two-part plan.

Why was that not given to myself or the residents back last August when I originally submitted the email back to director Armstrong, or not at the following meeting in which we presented the petition? Conell said that he submitted this petition over two months ago requesting the Health Department to investigate the symptoms that were being report ....
