Investment criteria set to be published this summer following consultation with industry, bank's executive director for markets confirms
The Bank of England has unveiled plans to align its corporate bond purchase scheme (CBPS) with the UK's net zero target, publishing a major paper late last week that sets out proposals to introduce emissions targets for its holdings, while stepping up investment in greener activities and firms.
In a speech at an event hosted by Bloomberg on Friday, the central bank's executive director for markets Andrew Hauser confirmed it planned to decarbonise its corporate bond buying scheme (CBPS) and take action to ensure that the stimulus scheme - which has long been critcicsed for financing high-carbon firms and activities  - delivers a net zero economy.

Mounting progressive groups demand a reimagined Fed to tackle climate, racial, and economic justice

VIEW POINT: Extinction Rebellion will carry out more direct action in Oxford

Suzanne Williams of Extinction Rebellion argues why protesters are right to keep blocking the traffic
On Beaumont Street, Oxford, at 11am on Saturday, local resident Anne Taylor stopped traffic by peacefully sitting in the road wearing a sign that read ‘I’m terrified for my grandchildren’s future because of the climate crisis.’
As she sat in the way of the oncoming traffic, Anne risked her life in order to speak out about government inaction on climate two years on from Parliament’s declaration of an environment and climate emergency.
But she was not alone. Around the country, over 200 people just like her, terrified about the trajectory we are on in this climate and ecological emergency, also took action in their hometowns in the same way.

Central banks have been concerned over the popularity of cryptocurrencies
Bitcoin saw a wild weekend of price swings and sits at around $57k today
