The Atlantics To Reissue 1999’s ‘Flight of the Surf Guitar’ album
The Atlantics’ 1999 classic album ‘Flight of the Surf Guitar’ is making a comeback.
‘Flight of the Surf Guitar’ was the first album for The Atlantics in 30 years. It featured new member Martin Cilia for the first time.
The 2021 edition of the album contains two brand new, never released, tracks – Maroubra Beach written by Martin Cilia & Islands in the Surf written by Jim Skiathitis. It has been remixed and remastered.
After reforming in 1999 with original members Peter Hood and Bosco Bosanac and almost at the start member Jim Skaithis the music of The Atlantics, the hit song ‘Bombora’, was used in the closing ceremony of the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. The band also performed in the ‘Long Way To The Top’ tour.

Flight Lieutenant Peter Hood, who has died aged 98, was the pilot of a Lancaster bomber shot down during a raid on Nuremberg which resulted in Bomber Command’s heaviest loss of the war.
With the moon almost full, the bomber crews were not expecting to fly on the night of March 30/31 1944. However, based on a weather forecast that there would be some cloud cover, it was decided to attack Nuremberg, a city of huge symbolic importance to Nazi Germany.

Blistering attack on Colnbrook's Labour parish councillors

"You are not learning to be councillors, you are making it up as you go along."
Cllr Hood said that members making planning decisions sometimes did not even know where the site they were discussing was.
He also questioned the way the new clerk to the council had been chosen - saying that the choice of Katharine Sutton for the job had not been agreed at a full council meeting.
This was particularly embarrassing as Ms Sutton had earlier introduced herself on line at the virtual meeting, explaining it was her second day in the job.
The meeting ended after three and a half hours with members failing to agree the Parish Council precept for the year, after Conservative member Cllr Dexter Smith questioned the right of members who lived outside the parish boundary to vote on it.
