GAS Letâs work together to eliminate the use of gas Ignoring any political spin, it just seems sensible and natural to eliminate the use of gas for heating, cooking, hot water or barbecues (TheAge, 5/5). Burning gas is directly producing emissions. Also, with the decreasing capacity of the Bass Strait gas field, it seems certain that gas prices will continue to rise.
Letters of 9 April 2021: Patrick focused on journosâ ire Apr 9, 2021 â 12.01am Save Share Aaron Patrick (â³â£Campaign journalism targets PMâ³â£, March 31) is right that anger at the government over the abuse of women is being led by a powerful group of female journalists. But that doesnât mean we donât need men reporting on the issues too. There is widespread anger over misbehaviour in Parliament. Photo: Jessica Shapiro Thanks to journalists such as Samantha Maiden, Laura Tingle, Louise Milligan, Katharine Murphy, Amy Remeikis, Lisa Wilkinson, Karen Middleton and Jessica Irvine, women all across Australia are finally speaking up in greater numbers than ever before.

UNIVERSITIES Ideally it works, but too often itâs a disaster As someone who was active in off-campus teaching for some 30 of a 50-year career in higher education, and with awards and media coverage for my innovations, I am nevertheless concerned at proposals such as the use of pre-recorded lectures combined with a weekly or fortnightly seminar. This strategy can work where lecture equivalents are updated, seminar sizes are limited to 30 or so well-prepared students, and they take place in purpose-designed classrooms with movable seating to allow for break-out groups.

A significant amount of this money flowed into Australia through compensation paid in 1835 by the British government to slave owners in the West Indies for the loss of their slaves (âAustraliaâs deep connection with enslavement,â
Time for humility and a leadership change February 2, 2021 — 10.00pm Normal text size The Age, email letters@theage.com.au. Please include your home address and telephone number. COLLINGWOOD REPORT Time for humility and a leadership change It is deeply shameful that Australia has lost Heritier Lumumba. He represents the Australia we could have: a society where brave, intelligent, articulate deep thinkers with integrity are valued, regardless of their cultural identity. It is deeply shameful that Eddie McGuire just can’t seem to say “sorry”. But unfortunately he represents the kind of leadership we have at the helm of most sporting, political and business institutions in this country: over-entitled, monocultural human anachronisms. Show some humility, Eddie. Just resign.
