Saundersfoot Rotary was delighted to stage its first Duck Race of the season. All 550 ducks were sold to help raise a substantial sum of money for charities supported by the club. The race took place at Saundersfoot Harbour on Sunday July 25, by kind permission of harbourmaster Michael Davies and his reliable and helpful staff who operated the sluice gates, allowing the water to flow as a stream through the low tide dry harbour. The plastic ducks were then released into the water and the first three ducks to reach the harbour entrance were the race winners. Lane floats were used to help prevent any of the wayward ducks making their way onto the muddy bank but some managed to escape! They were eventually rescued by Rotarians dressed in suitable waders.
Kiwanis Fourth of July back to pre-COVID level Tuesday, June 29, 2021 5:21 PM Fireworks DELPHOS — The Kiwanis have planned a two-day Fourth of July celebration to rival 2019, according to Chair Jamey Wisher. “We have added a few events and all our bands are back from last year when we had to cancel the events on the tennis court,” Wisher said. “We are hoping the community comes out and supports us so we can continue to support our fellow community groups and events. Last year was chaos, so we’re hoping to make a good recovery this year.” New this year are a Gun Raffle at 1 p.m. on July 3. Twenty guns will be raffled (see list on page 2-3B) and one lucky person will win a 9mm Sig Sauer 2022 with a custom holster. Gates open at 11:30 a.m., with a limit of 250 admitted. The raffle will be the only event on the tennis courts at the time. Tickets are $30 and include two drink tickets and lunch as well a chance to win the 9mm.

No, I don't mean I got a shot at a fleeing pheasant or a running cottontail rabbit. I got shot with a syringe for COVID-19. It was painless. I'm not much for having needles poked into my arm, but this shot in the arm left me feeling almost giddy. I felt like a portion of a weight had been lifted from my shoulders as I was released from the waiting room. I received about 10 pages of information on what I should do in case I had an adverse reaction, but the most I experienced was a sore spot in my upper arm for about a day.
