Hugo House in 2020.
There’s a certain woeful irony in a literary writing center itself struggling to communicate about vital things. But that seems to be the case with Hugo House. For months a group called the Writers of Color Alliance (WOCA)—composed of writers Anastacia-Reneé, Claudia Castro Luna, Dujie Tahat, Shankar Narayan, and Harold Taw—has been working to transform the Capitol Hill literary hub into an equitable and diverse arts nonprofit (work that’s been accelerating at organizations across the city and country lately).

Trump shits on Mitch: In a statement, former SAG member Donald Trump lashed back at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. Mitch dared to say a few kinda mean things about Trump after voting to acquit him of charges of high crimes and misdemeanors over the weekend. Here's some of what Trump had to say:

KUOW - 2020 Hugo House Fellows share works of 'Luminosity' for the new year

2020 Hugo House Fellows share works of ‘Luminosity’ for the new year
What is luminosity? According to some basic physics, it is just one of the trinities of light's properties. It sits alongside brightness and flux and contributes to warmth. Besides being a lovely concept to ponder during a grey Pacific Northwest January, luminosity is also the communal theme of the readings featured in this episode of Speakers Forum.
Presented by the Seattle-based writing center Hugo House, this virtual event featured the works of authors and Hugo House Fellows Sasha LaPointe, Abi Pollokoff, Joyce Chen, Piper Lane, Shelby Handler, and Jen Soriano. The writers share personal stories and poems that illuminate and examine family, community, language, and traditions. Through the lens of ‘Luminosity,' the writers also explore themes of resilience, life, and feminism.
