washington offers a service-level glimpse at the prominence of homophobia in the federal government in the d.c. press corps. all of these books and authors will be appearing on book tv in the near future. >> welcome to the woman's forum book talk with miranda divine thank you offer coming out tonight to hear miranda discuss laptop from hell . . . or maybe'y corruption and treason. we decided to have this event because for a book that delves into some pretty critical information about who owns the biden family we saw it was not getting the coverage it deserved. fox has given it a lot of play and so of a couple of other conservative outlets, but most have been silent and the mainst have been silent into the mainstream media more silent still. last week, with regard to her own a spying scandal, hillary clinton explained the theory behind this behavior. if no one touches a story except fox into "the new york post," it's possible to claimry the sty is false, which fox knows the viewers are stupid enough to believe it. some viewers are stupid, but i wouldn't say it's fox. [laughter] tonight's event is being recorded by c-span, that slightly undermines the complaint of the mainstream media that has ignored this critical book, but we will take it. before i introduce the speakers, i want to note that the independent women's forum is now almost 30-years-old. wemi started as a group of women coming out of the first biden administration who were unhappy withwe the way conservative womn were being portrayed in the media and just all around. sswe were unhappy from the viewpoints and if she was covered. this hit home during the clarence thomas anita hill supreme court showdown and early iterations of believe all women. back then, there were only phyllis schlafly forums, which single-handedly defeated the equal rights amendment to my but they didn't seem so effective in the media battles in the '90s. on any tv report, you would have little to left-wing women and spower students making their points, and then a very pretty, slightly fussy woman in a dress that would make a conservative case and it would be on relatable. iw avenue intended to be an organizationf that reflected the real lives of and concerns of today's women. we believe all issues are women's issues from the economy to child care policy to the regulatory state to revolution. if it matters, we are on it. caunder the leadership of carrie lukas, who will be tonight's interlocutor, iwf has grown like wildfire. in the past decade we've added the independent voice, political action arm and adjust this year the independent women's network, the national cyber networking operation that will build grassroots groups across the country. plus we have a legal center by first rate attorneys and as soon assets a little better funded it will start suing people just like the left. [laughter] harry hass accomplished all this while raising five lovely children, all of whom are brilliant and have excellent manners. these days, she's making the case against the fairfax county schools and their math policies. [applause] we are thrilled to have new york post columnist miranda devine heren' tonight. whenen hunter biden's laptop emerged during the election, i took a look at it and though i am not squeamish i came across various videos i couldn't watch. [laughter] so i cannot imagine that recording and explaining what was on the laptops was pleasant, but as the hillary acolytes like to say, nevertheless, she persisted. [laughter] orand kudos to "the new york po" for backing this important work, which the rival media claimed was russian propaganda. finally, it is all very well that a rich and slightly decadent country pays foreign labor to pick our fruit and clean our home, but it's a very different thing altogether when american journalists simply will not do the job of reporting. so we need to import australian columnists.n [laughter] hunters laptop appeared in public. no one had to dig it up. when it appeared, we should have seen the watergate-like scum competing to break the news but the news was devastating about the bernie candidate, so nobody said a word. so, we are doubly grateful to ms. devine for her bravery and hard work. nat this point in her career, se is the queen of all tabloids across the anglosphere. she's dominated coverage here and previously in australia and england. we ared grateful she went throuh these records of the president's son. hunter biden is one sick puppy and history will not look kindly on the way he and his father sold the nation to its enemies. but thanks to maranda, we will have a record. without further ado, miranda devine and carrie lukas. [applause] thank you i so much for the introduction and thanks being here.r we haven't had an in person event like this for a while, so i'm thrilled so many folks came out and were getting ready to resume a normal life. tonight is anything but normal with the news coming out of ukraine and i felt like this was a perfect time here with all the crazy news about what is going onse overseas to have this conversation, because so much of itrs is about foreign affairs ad how america has been mis- handling some of the responsibilities. but when i startedoo reading yor book which i enjoyed so much, it was almost overwhelming because it was such an avalanche of scandals and each tidbit was worthy of its own congressional investigation. i was hoping you could kind of set the stage are a little bit of what it was like to be on the receiving end of this and the process you went through to untangle all the information that was in the laptop that fell into your hands.ta >> thanks, carrie. i think untangling it is the perfect word because this laptop is a complete mess, like hunter biden's personal life. it's full of explicit porn, homemade porn he made with prostitutes that he was having relationships withny and anyone else. hehe was obsessed with every aspect of his body and his vipersonal life, so he videotapd everything. so, you have to wave through that lay year and i think that got a lot of publicity obviously for the nature of it. i mentioned in one story about otone photograph where he balans m&ms on his penis and takes photographs. that god muche more coverage thn other probably more important things. so, i've tried to balance in the book thatt sort of give or take, that material that's in the laptop and of course far more important than that is the material that takes a while to dig down and find. that's the e-mails, the text messages, the sort of trail of breadcrumbs that lead you to the absolute gob smacking revelation. it's one piece of the jigsaw puzzle. it is buttressed by materials and business partners, a real american patriot, naval veteran, hero. he came forward before the election saying how "the new york post" story that we published before was being buried. he came forward to corroborate it and handed over the material he had on his devices to the fbi. and that material was corroborated a lot of what was inin the laptop. hunter and his partners were a lot more free and easy about what they said. then the other piece of the jigsaw puzzle is excellent where it links to republican senators that were introduced as kremlin operatives like the democrats go to al's they regard or pretend they are opponents of the propagandists. that was chuck grassley and ron johnson and they conduct a very exhaustive investigation into one aspect of the corruption to do with ukraine and of the the t energy company, but burissma. >> there are so many different stories of different corruption and different money coming towards the influence selling. we are reaching a new audience. if you handed to give one example where you thought that this was going to kind of encapsulate the corruption and why americans should be kind of appalled at the idea of what was going on in terms of this money that was coming and that was obviously corruption and unethical behavior. >> the one moment that had me away from the laptop and have to go fork a walk and just shake my head and think i can't believe i'm seeing this, and it was only possible with mixing those up and that was the biggest feel hunter biden and his uncle jim biden have done so far with the chinese. theyit were joint venture partns with the energy company but it wasn't just an energy company. this was the capitalist of the belt and road initiative which of course is the imperialist push into the rest of the world and the biggest deal they were goings to do is with russia ande vladimir putin had been pushed into a corner by european sanctions on russia after the downing of the malaysian airlines flight over ukraine. he then was forced into the arms of the president that is an expansionist leader and he decided he was going to buy a big chunk of the russian state owned energy company, so this was a marriage of china and russia. disastrous now happening again. president trump came into office and he had assigned attorney general jeff sessions to disrupt china's sort of business invasion of america. so, very quickly, hunters, one of his business partners was arrested at jfk. the boss of cfc was in china and that deal for china suddenly fell apart and china had to pay russia i think $10 million in compensation. so that was a close call, but that was this crackhead to sign of joe biden couldn't tie his shoelaces, couldn't conduct his personal life in any normal fashion. he was out of it most of the time. he had a raging crack addiction and prostitute addiction. his personal life, he was fighting with everyone and this guy and his bumbling uncle jim, joe biden's brother, were right in the heart of the biggest deal, this geopolitical landmine that was going to be so detrimental to the national security they were right in the heart of it and were going to benefit enormously. on top of that, joe biden was the 10% partner. and joe biden was going to, when he finished being vice president, hunter biden had already made up a nameplate in dc in a building i think cold of the swedish house. they had an office and on the door was goingo to be joe biden, hunter biden, cfc america. the belt and road initiative. the american version. and that was joe biden, future president, former vice president, and it just fell apart because of donald trump but now we are back at square one again. >> i was thinking about how interesting it is in the rarity that you have your source, the president's son, you have him in his own words, essentially the correspondence, everyone who's e-mailing him, the videos. it was just an amazing amount of access for people who usually try to keep the media at bay. as much as it is a story about hunter biden, i think i would love for you to talk about joe biden's role in this because there was i find it very interesting the exchanges that they had on a personal level and then how much, how completely ridiculous it is for the president to have said he didn't know about this because he was so h many times he was there wih his son. >> you are t spot on. the reason for the book and at the reason that it's important is not about hunter biden, a 52-year-old supposedly reformed drug addict. you know, that's his personal life, who cares. that's often what people attack me and say why are you delving into ruining his privacycy and o on. it's not about hunter biden. it's about joe biden. joe biden is at the top of his family business. he is the product they are tiselling and he is intimately involved in directing it. he is introducing hunter to the important people at the top of the russian with the chinese with ukrainian or the romanian or kazakhstan a hierarchy because in china for instance when they got off air force one, it was obvious w what was happening. hunter biden was a prince lane. gin china and these corrupt countries you don't give the money too the top official, you give it to their children with theirmb family members. so for that trip with joe biden, nothing peculiar about his middle-age son coming along and being introduced to all the higher-ups for joe biden to be shaking the hand of hunter biden's new chinese business partner to the deal that was given a 10% stake for nothing and ended up in 2019 it had a $2.5 billion worth t of funds ad the other thing is that from the laptop, we know joe biden financially benefited personally from hunter biden's business deal. so, we don't have a lot, but there is a little bit. there were shared bank accounts and there were shared debit cards. and there was also some evidence of hunter biden was actually paying the household bills for joe biden. there is a monthly at&t phone bill, just a couple hundred dollars but there were also some evidence of bills for maintenance one of the mansions in delaware. so, retaining wall, some paintings, some shutters that needed repaired. air conditioning being replaced in a cottage on the ground. a few thousand here and there. but it only came to light iobecause they were notorious around delaware. with not paying their bills because to the local tradesmen it is supposed to be such an honor too work for joe biden tht you wouldn't want to let money get in the way, so some of these tradesmen were pressing to get their bills paid. it was a lot to a soft tradesmen so they were maybe nine months old and it came to the surface that's how it arrived but i'm sure there is a lot of other money that the fbi and the u.s. attorney in delaware would have access to that research. they had some access to the activity reports in the banks. there is so much to discover about the president and his family. >> we found the wheels of justice when there was a democratic politician under investigation and i wondered i saw there was a piece yesterday or the day before on that investigation or the grand jury that is still enforced in collecting testimony in delaware. so much seems obvious and i inwonder if you can speak about what the situation is in terms of those investigations or what the potential is. i guess it is like the investigation there've been very few leaks from this investigation intos the busines. hunter biden told us himself after the election that also supposedly they were looking at money laundering and some sort of agent registration stuff so if they want to, there are multiple crimes that you can find on a laptop so what we know so far is in may, 2019, which was a few weeks after joe biden announced his candidacy for president,de the grand jury of e u.s. attorney in delaware subpoenaed j.p. morgan chase bank for bank transactions to deal with hunter biden, jim bidens and two of the business partners. and specifically they offered anything to do with the bank of china. i know from the laptop and from the material a lot of that money sloshed through tens of millions of dollars. so, they are getting that now. one of the names on one of the suspicious activity reports from j.p. morgan chase that i've seen is a woman a called zoe, and she was an ex- i don't know if you would call her girlfriend about a woman that had spent a long time with hunter in hollywood when he went on one of his month-long crack vendors after he got a payout from china. so she was there and in a load of photographs and videos. so they had as you always have with of the women in his life, a rocky relationship. but she is named on one of those suspicious activity reports because quite a lot of money had gone into her bank account and she testified before the grand jury and apparently talked about his wild spending sprees because he in 2018 in particular he was staying and had his drug addiction was an incredible. prostitutes several times a day, and he had of drug dealers drugs percolating through the hotel room, stealing everything in sight and he was cooking crack and kept having his laptops and his phones and wallet stolen. it wasal a very expensive severl months for him. [laughter] >> i feel like it was very early in the book when you talk about how he loses in a thousand dollar jacket at a club and was mad about it trying to track down this jacket. throughout this, there's such a tremendous lack of responsibility in particular with somebody i bet there's a lot of folks here that are used to knowing the idea of classified material over the idea of not being somebody that should be open to blackmail and obviously we heard this a lot with president trump t with the whole russia narrative that they were trying to push it out that he might be blackmailed. and my goodness, having read your book now and being aware of some of what is out there and knowing some of the other things that might be sloshing around out there, is there a thought that heer might be under, that s father might be compromised by the other information that's out there by foreigne leaders? >> that iss the 64,000-dollar $64,000 questionand it is partit today when russia is invading ukraine and america is, americans are concerned about falling deeper into a european war. and you know, we have a president whose family has been paid money from russian oligarchs at the right hand of vladimir putin, not just money. one transaction was $3.5 million that went into the bank account of one of the business partners in america. and you know, the money that he was getting from ukraine and another russia aligned oligarch was in charge of that company. the owner of that company. so he was the energy minister of the government who was paying hunter biden this million dollars a year payment. and joe biden was warned about that several times by some sort of mid-level state department official and ignored that. one of them called him on air force to on the way to ukraine. one of them came into his office and so there'she just been no accountability here and others so many people who know so much and at the very least, the american people should know as much about joe biden and his family's businesss dealings in ukraine and russia and china as do vladimir putin and the reason they don't know is because the american media, the establishment, the procedure media, "the new york times," the "washington post" and so on, they blocked it, protected the story, and you had people like john brennan and other former security and intelligence operatives who then gave the fig leaf to joe biden that it wasca russian disinformation so the american people were kept in the dark before the election and with proper due diligence, they were not able to do. >> i'm going to open this up for questions. we have a great audience that will have a lott of questions. i just want to kind of ask you to talk a little bit more about that because i do think that as much a scandal as there is on the laptop and in the book about the bidens i feel like the scandall was the media. it's almost more alarming because it isn't just the misdeeds of one family and the upper class, it is supposed to be the heart of what journalism is and it's amazing to think of the i consequences if you talk about that a little bit in your book that this really was an attempt to subvert the election outcome. you wonder who's pulling the strings and i wonder if you have any prospective if they were surprised at the extent of the media blackout to try to keep the silence that you have. >> i think trump changed everything. journalists at those organizations that i mentioned just decided to drop every ancient aspect of journalistic ethics because the means justified at the end. it didn't matter who he was. they were going to make sure to do whatever they could and i guess i wasn't really surprised because there's competition obviously and we had the laptop andan they didn't, so ignoring t was kind of a normal instinct. but what actually surprised me was facebook and twitter, how brazen they were at displaying their power. they blocked the account until two weeks before the election and a little while after that, they platform to the sitting presidentt of the united states andd even imanuel of france was horrified by that because these are unaccountable corporate global oligopolies that are more powerful than the leader of the free world. that's what they are and the disgusting thing for me was facebook and twitter did that on the pretext they said we had violated their material policies, which there was nothing hacked and they admitted it afterwards that it was a mistake. jack dorsey said it was a mistake. in facebook stopped us because they were going to be fact checked. they never did a fact check and i know they didn't because the way you would fact check the e-mail that was the first story as you would go to the other recipients of the e-mail, and i know they haven't because i've talked to those people and they've never been contacted by facebook. so it was a lie and it was all done for partisan purposes to make sure donald trump didn't win the election, and that is terrifying and we know that it made a material difference to the outcome because there was a poll done by the media research center and they found that about half the voters had no idea about this scandal or the laptop or anything and 10% of them, if they had known, would have changed their vote. and this is an election decided by 40,000 votes and a handful of battleground states, so that could have made a difference. >> unbelievable. i want to get to some audience members. did somebody have a question? raise your hand and we can bring you the microphone. >> congratulations on your book. it's really a veto journalism and well done. the fbi had the laptop first. are they still looking at it, or could something come out of that and why do you think they held onto it for so long without any, doing any work coming to the public with any of the material in it? >> i guess there's two answers. they are lazy and incompetent. or they are corrupt. you know, they've had it for a long time and let's hope that what the u.s. attorney in delaware is doing is based on the material on the laptop and i'm still willing to have faith in our justice system to do the right thing. it may be slow, but we are seeing with ofoo the report that good things arenk happening. and i think that is all we can expect is that the truth is displayed, and unfortunately i think the media is falling down on its part of the bargain. but let's hope the justice system, even if it's slow, that it starts and that ultimately people do get held accountable. and of course if thee republicas win back the house and the senate some of them have said they would be holding proper inquiries to: people like hunter biden and many others to testify about what they know about this corrupt influence repeddling operation. but they are not the only people that have done this. i think joe biden -- joe biden is a master of it. he's been doing it for decades fromnk delaware. but you know, i think there are people on both sides of the aisle who have profited from selling their influence and i think washington is a very corrupt town, dare i say. and i'm not sure if people have really come to grips with that. >> more questions from the audience. >> okay, please. >> thank you for being here tonight. i read your book. it's wonderful. you are a really good writer. i'm a slow reader and i read your book in like two hours. [laughter] so thank you. it's disturbing on so many accounts but the one thing i thought was interesting and i'm glad you put it in the book is about his teeth. because he was a heavy drug user and crack user and as many of you know when you use drugs like that it does affect your teeth. so that's interesting. could you comment on that? >> it was one of the most distressing photos and there. i can't remember the exact inumber. i think it was like $80,000 that he spent on a dentist coldest miles on 57th street in midtown new york and there's a photo of him smiling with these hollow down teeth and you notice he's always flushing the pearly whites. just like joe biden who had his teeth fixed and he had his hair plugs and at the botox. so, hunter has learned from his dad that teeth are extremely important. on a personal note if anyone wants to have their hair done i suggest wisconsin avenue. they were hairdressers for jill and she doesn't pay them. she pays them but she doesn't tip and they will no longer go to the white house because there's no tape involved. he will tell you all about it while you are having your hair done. [laughter] my question is about the new missus hunter biden, a south african. how is that relationship preceding and i am also curious about the babies mom who has been testifying i understand, correct? >> yes. she was a former stripper called london roberts who actually was working at an establishment not far from here and -- a gentleman's' club, sorry. and hunter was nothing but a gentle man when he was there. so, london roberts, anyway, became pregnant and had hunter's fourth child. so, hunter though denied that it was his child and in fact in his memoir, "beautiful things," -- [laughter] he claims that he can't even remember one encounter he can't remember meeting her. that's not true because the laptop shows he knew her very well for a very long time. he used to smuggle her into the office building at the swedish house through the back fire door over months and when he was challenged by the building managers, because they were concerned about security issues, he wrote this very long thousand word sort of rant and then man thought he was very clever and said this woman gave her entire and said she was the basketball coach to his daughter and also to sasha obama who was his daughter's friend, so dropping the obama name, so he knew her extremely well and she was on his payroll at one point. so, she had the baby and had to sue him for paternity, the dna proved it was his child. but in his book, on the jacket in his little biography, he talks f about being the father f three girls but doesn't mention the fourth child. so london roberts i suppose is a little bit miffed, so she did appear at the grand jury last tuesday and testified for several hours. [laughter] and hunter has been a little bit silent lately. i mean, i don't know if you noticed, but he was at the white house a lot and in fact so much in the early months that joe had built for him, his 2-year-old little boy, a swing set on the groundsan at the white house whh you can see when he's walking back from marine one to his office. but we know hunter is basically no kidding as joe would say, his number one or closest most trusted advisor because hunter biden is actually very intelligent. and i didn't believe this but i was told this by one of his many therapists -- [laughter] and when i really was fair about it and read his e-mails and his long message he's very self engrossed about he is intelligent and so he has always wanted to be an artist or an authorho he is both of those no, but he also has political ambition. and he told his first wife, kathleen biden, who i think was a very nice person and badly misled that after the funeral of his brother when he had given a eulogy that everyone praised, he said to her in the car on the way back from the funeral everyone was saying to me you should go into politics and i'm thinking about it. she looked at him and said you're kidding. you've just been thrown out of the navy for cocaine use. no. so, anyway, he writes about that also in "beautiful things" saying she didn't understand him. but anyway, i think that he is concerned at the moment because the grand jury is starting to accelerate and bring people in from his personal life and asking questions and the other problem for him is that his best friend and business who had been at yale as a colleague of his is going to be sentenced on monday i think i mentioned in the southern district of new york for this serious criminal fraud of one of the poorest indian tribes in america. and one of his codefendants so the prosecutors have asked and his lawyers have said that's too much of a hardship for him so we will see on monday. the judge is an obama appointee and also the wife of one of the mueller investigators and she's been very kind to archer previously and overturn his itoriginal conviction. it was reinstated in the court of appeal and so now he's back before her. she also allowed him when he was out on bail to travel to 24 different countries. he went on holidays but also he went to china and kazakhstan and ukraine and russia during business. the very places that he and hunter had been. greg or something. i can't remember the name exactly. >> so, her name is melissa. they did meet and he was introduced by somebody he meantt around the pool and they fell madly in love that night. [laughter] anded they were married within weeks. miranda devine. >> she's south african, yeah. i've heard that. i don't know. she did things like took away his phones, his devices, kind of clean him up. if we believe it, he's cleaned up thanks to her and she's now the mother of his cute 2-year-old little boy so let's hope for her sake and his that he is clean but i think there will be some sleepless nights at the moment. >> we have time for one last question. this is a difficult question but right after the laptop came out when i first saw you on fox news, there were -- i've seen some videos if i believe a friend from taiwan showing him torturing little girls from china. i don't know, can we confirm this? >> those videos i've heard and seen of. they do not exist on the laptop. i believe there been doctored images and photoshopped and i believe, i don't know why but some of them havepp appeared on chinese sites. whether it's somebody deliberately trying to muddy the waters to discredit the laptop, i don't know. all i know is i did look at it, it doesn'td exist and i think te problem with concentrating on this alleged pedophilia, which so many people do, is that if he was a pedophile, that is the worst crime of all. everythingyo else on the laptop would just pale into insignificance and of course i would have concentrated on that butn there's no evidence of that and in fact i have seen much more of hunter biden's sex life than i would've liked to have seen. [laughter] but everything i have seen is he likes women of his own age, the prostitutes were inn their 20s and there is no evidence that he has any peculiar preferences. [laughter] >> that might be an appropriate place to end the conversation. i want to thank everybody and as we wrap up, everybody should grabio a copy. charlotte hayes writes a series and we profile women so please take a look at that and also to mention the independent women's forum and history and i do want to encourage you to check out both into the independent women's network because we would love forct everybody to sign up. we try to connect people are out of the country to make a difference. we are a women's group that really likes men so we welcome male members. we have a chapter that is here to host tonight and we want to get everybody involved so we will take back the communities and the country. thank you very much. [applause]
