>> certainly looking at a few more clouds and some cooler high temperatures. this is because of the high pressure weakening allowing for a cooler onshore flow that you may have felt yesterday, from two to four degrees cooler, starting at the coast we are mild in the mid-40's but look for coastal fog and a brisk sea breeze later on today with highs just in the upper 50's around the bay. we are looking at good visibility and numbers in the mid-60's from oakland and san leandro and hayward this afternoon, so that is a little cooler than what you have been used to and evening numbers moving back across the bay in the 50's and inland, where it will be the mildest but not compared to where we have been with 70's and in more 70's around the bay. today, look if clouds and mid-50's to start out and then by the afternoon, we are talking mid-60's, so, still a pleasant afternoon, and maybe some upper 60's and the possibility of rain is with us but it does increase throughout the later part of the work week into the holiday week the we will show you the seven-day outlook in a few moments. >> back to san jose for an update, good news of the accident north 101, at the overcrossing, which has been cleared from the lanes. we still have traffic back toward story road but that should be improving greatly as the morning rolls on. look at the drive from the central valley, very slow up and over the altamont pass, and we had an early accident reported westbound at livermore avenue. that has been cleared. the damage is done. 45 minutes now from the altamont pass to the dublin/pleasanton area. north 880 at oak, this accident still in the median as you make your way to downtown. and a stilled big rig at 24 junction southbound 680 at walnut creek blocking the right lane, and that is the reason for the bumper to bumper traffic as you make the turn at north main so that remains slow as they get the tow truck for a big rig which is big undertaking underway and we will follow that as the morning continues. kristen and eric? >> thank you. new this morning, we are a few hours away from the official ribbon cutting for the new devil slide tunnel, the half billion project runs along the san mateo county coast. abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live with pacifica. drives have wait add long time for this. >> it is a long time coming, you are right, kristen, a huge challenge. but caltran spokesman says they never doubted that the day would come. they had the fatal and never felt like giving up. they are going to party today. there will be a celebration this morning. it will be right at the entrance of the new tunnels. hundreds of people are expected to be there all of who were somehow connected to making the tunnels a reality. they made sure that local resident whose fought for the tunnels were invited. the officials say that building the tunnels was the biggest challenges the agency has ever faced. >> this was the most exciting project i have ever been on and i have had several. there is just nothing like being inside of a tunnel that is under construction. it was the most extraordinary expense my life and i know a last my colleagues feel the same way, being part of a tunnel under construction is an extraordinarily special job to have. we all felt that way. >> he says they are hope they are opening but says they will miss the project. though calling this an environmental achievement and say they went to great lengths not to disturb the natural habitat. engineers took courts on how to recognize endangered species. they say that their celebration will be this morning but after this evening's commute, that is when they will start diverting traffic and getting it ready to go through the tunnel. they are not sure what time the tunnels will open tonight or in the morning but they will be ready for tomorrow's morning commute. live in pack can for abc7 news. >> 6:34. new this morning, one person is in critical condition after being stabbed on the streets of richmond overnight. it happened just before midnight. police placed at least a dozen evidence markers on the street, and police are, working on a description of the attacker and a motive. also new this morning, three people are in custody after leading police on a chase from hayward to oakland. the police say the car crashed into the center median on eastbound 580. officers noticed the car was swerving and tried to pull it over but the driver took off. they are trying to determine if the same car was involved in a drive-by shooting. >> young man vanished in the search at half moon bay and the search is called off. the 22-year-old was laying soccer with a friend on roosevelt beach yesterday when lopez went into the surf to retrieve the ball but he disappeared. no one knows what happened to him. he go in the beach and i started looking for him... >> workers, co-workers and friends are holding out hope that he somehow might have come out of the water on his own. emergency crews say the surf was relatively calm but there were deep pockets and swift currents along the shore that could have played a role in the disappearance. >> from afghanistan, secretary of state john kerry has landed on an unannounced visit. john kerry arrived a few hours ago in the capital after visiting iraq. this is video from the visit. he will meet the afghan president, karzai. >> same-sex marriage honk -- long road to the supreme court reaches the destination of supreme court. there are two cases, one the constitutionality of the banning of the same-sex marriage after the highest court ruled it legal four years after then san francisco mayor ordered the city clerk to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. the high court will hear arguments on the defense of marriage act that defines marriage as being between one man and one woman. the rulings are expected if -- in late june. >> lesbian cousin of chief justice john roberts lives in san francisco and will be sitting in the section reserved for family members and guests of chief justice roberts.
