we're following some developing news on the peninsula this morning, more fires in a neighborhood that was the center of an arson investigation just two weeks ago. >> we had hoped to get an interview with one of the fire investigators and we were just told that they would be issuing a press release some time later this morning. it is the intersection of lyndon and hemlock, and reports of to s-u-v on fire. this is one of them, a green jeep 4 by 4. firefighters got that first call around 340 in this morning. there was one s-u-v on fire in the street and another one of few minutes later in a carport. that appears to be a black nissan s-u-v. investigators were called to the scene because they're not sure if it is arson related but the cars are so close together. we do know that no buildings were damaged and there were not any injuries but fire investigators are here trying to determine the cause of the fire. this isn't the first time that redwood city has investigated car fires this month. on june 13th reported car fires just south of here. this is lyndon street and hemlock avenue and we're told that the fires that happened earlier this month were just south of this location. we know that no one was injured and fire investigators are here on the scene and we will try to get more information for you. >> new this morning, three people were forced out of their home in a word. kitchen in a house on woodland ave. firefighters had to cut their way through the door because all the windows had bars on that. a woman, her daughter and granddaughter were all displaced. for the second time a week in this trial is being requested in the case involving an attack on a priest in san jose. lawyers for the suspect claims that it didn't know the rev. what he would say on the stand about molesting lynch but the moat motion for mistral claims that the prosecutor did know that you would deny the abuse. a pretrial is set for the man accused of shooting seven people to death at an oakland trade school. he was expelled from oikos university prior to the shootings. pleaded not guilty to seven charges of murder and three counts of attempted murder. the santa clara stadium project is hit another bump in the road. officials pulled $30 million of city redevelopment funds that were promised. city voters approved the money for the stadium in 2010 before the state dissolved redevelopment agencies. the money is now in control of the county which decided it should go towards more urgent needs. >> could it slowed down? i doubt it but it is not good when there is a promise backed by the voters generating economic development for the city and it is confusing >> a court battle is likely. it is a small percentage of the stadium's cost which is financed by the team. stockton faces a decision today to determine if it could be the largest city in the nation to declare bankruptcy. stockton is under a mountain of debt. the city manager hopes to still reach a deal with competitors. the deadline for agreement is later tonight. let's get a look at the traffic and weather. >> it is not bad at all out here, just a general breeze. what a gorgeous beginning to the cars heading towards the pay gates. still no meter whites on but there are slight delays. we're still following an accident in san francisco approaching interstate 80 so we are trying to gather more details right now. it sounds like at least one lane is blocked. here is a live look at the golden gate bridge with the traffic moving fine. things are starting to pick up and it's getting a little busy on westbound to 37. so far, no brake lights. one more live look at the golden gate bridge where things look pretty good. >> a big supreme court ruling will happen this week on health care reform. a decision on the affordable care act could be announced as soon as today. kate has a look at your world. this is an issue democrats and republicans are keeping an eye on and it is an election year >> what the republicans are saying right now is that it is galvanizing support against obama. what democrats are saying is that their supporters will kick up a notch. both camps are on standby for the fallout that comes with the health care outcome. both sides are divided in republicans say the law drives up health care costs and makes it harder for small businesses to hire health-care workers. democrats say the law gives help for millions of americans. >> all along we have said real problems, this isn't the solution >> we will never go back to those days where my child could be denied access to buy health insurance because he or she has pre-existing conditions. >> the most controversial is the individual mandate. the principle is that younger healthier people pay in to help cover the cost for older americans. let's take a look at the possible outcomes. the law could be upheld or improved in part. the court could take down the mandate and two related provisions. the supreme court also just right down the entire law altogether. regardless, republican lawmakers promised to vote to repeal any bit that the supreme court leaves standing. we asked you earlier what you would change or keep about the law. we got an e-mail that said the obama health care law must be kept in its entirety since some parts provide funding for other parts. it is a hot topic that a lot of people are speaking out about it and we're waiting for the outcome >> a lot of people speak out about it because it affects them >> moslem brotherhood candidate mohamad morrissey is the first democratically elected president of egypt. his supporters erupted in cheers last night after the delayed election results were finally announced. resign from the moslem brotherhood and the political arm saying he wanted to create a unified government. he has connections to california, he earned his ph.d. at the university of southern california and was an assistant professor at northridge. two of his children were born in the golden state. one of jerry's sandusky attorney will not take part in the appeal. last week a jury found him guilty of dozens of towns in child sex case. cbs news reports that the attorney joe hammond will not be the appeals process because he intends to testify as a witness. the defense claims it was not given enough time to prepare for the case. a high-school teacher and four students have been arrested in connection with an alleged hazing incident in southern california. police say the teacher directed the students to assault another student cucurbit behavior problems in the classroom. all were arrested on saturday. at least one student suffered minor injuries. it welcomed dip in gas prices. how the bay area compares to the rest of the union. fierce wind, rain and really hard >> it was over in less than 10 or 15 seconds. >> florida is likely to have more flooding and violent weather this week from tropical storm debby which spawned some isolated tornadoes. at least one person was killed. some parts of florida could get up to 2 ft. of rain. at least 248 homes are now confirmed destroyed by a two week old wild fire in colorado. it is by far the most destructive fire in the history of the state. it began with a lightning strike on june 9th and is still only 45 percent contained. a smaller wild fire begin saturday forcing thousands of people to evacuate. gas prices have dropped 15¢ over the past two weeks. it has been dropping rapidly from a national high of $3.97 in april down to $3.48. in california is down to $3.86 per gallon. the reason cited for the drop is worldwide economic depression and an abundant supply that has depressed the price of crude oil. >> we will take you out towards mobile 5 heading towards the east bay. they just got off of the lower deck and everything looks good this morning. let's go towards the bay bridge toll plaza. we're starting to see delays behind the paper. jammed solid towards the end of the parking lot. maybe a 10 minute wait or so to get on to the bridge. then things look pretty good so far on the upper deck. mass transit, all bart lines including those heading towards downtown san francisco are on time. the south bay is free and clear throughout downtown san jose. so far nice and light on 280. here is one of the live time saver traffic cameras. it is still in the green silk top speeds are six minutes between 8008101. coming out of the altamont pass, the drive time is a little bit more than 20 minutes. here is a live look at the upper deck traffic heading into san francisco. this degrees in livermore today. 73 degrees in concord. 60s inside the day but still comfortable as we head to the afternoon. the next couple of days it looks like i pressure starts to try to nudge its way back in here all the notes huge bridge. as we look towards the next weekend, another low pressure system drops into the bay area and temperatures will run below average through sunday. >> some of the victims in the bernie madoff ponzi scheme are getting a measure of justice. a former new york hedge fund manager will pay a settlement. many of the victims were charitable organizations. they will recover about 40 percent of their losses. madoff is spending a prison term for running a ponzi scheme. lawmakers in congress are still negotiating on where to find the funding to maintain low interest rates on student loans. if they don't act by sunday the current rate will double. it is a pressing issue in an election year. democrats and republicans must allocate $6 billion to keep the lower neighborhood hit by a suspicious fire earlier this month. lisa washington is in redwood city where apparently someone burned two vehicles this morning >> firefighters got that first call about 315 in the morning. one of them is being loaded onto a tow truck. this is one of the two small suvs that were burned this morning. one was on the street and one was in a carport. and firefighters got the call they were fully engulfed in flames. they do not know if this is arson related but the cars were very close to one another. we do know that no buildings were damaged and there were not any prosecutor met with father gerald bender, the accused child molester, and his attorney and asked him about the alleged abuse and twice he told her that he did not molest the lynch brothers when they were children and that he would testify to that under oath. according to this morning's mercury news the defense has filed two motions for a mistrial claiming that the attorney with held that evidence and put him on the standard knowing that he would perjure himself. we talked to co-counsel and he said that for his client it has always been about getting the attention back on the father >> the focus is on the father because he got on the stand >> lynch stands accused of beating the priest at his l.a. retirement home, prosecutors have said that the case is about putting a stop to vigilante justice. the judge is likely to rule this morning on the motions for a mistrial so, another legal twist in this case that has already been confusing and explosives. >> the oakland police department plans to hire someone to oversee injury claims. the tribune says that oakland has about 90 officers currently on medical leave which means one out of seven is physically unstable to work in the bridge toll plaza. we had a stall approaching treasure island which is now cleared but it did not help things. reports of a new accident approaching treasure island. it sounds like a smaller fender bender. it is a visual distraction and it is stacking up to the foot of the maze. kind of slow on parts of that upper deck as well. we have cameras all across the bay area. so far it looks okay according to the live traffic sensors. westbound 580, we have some brake lights coming out of the altamont pass. the dublin interchange, it's a little bit slow as well. elsewhere, was down 580 is the slowest in the yellow right now. the nimitz is pretty good and westbound 24, it no major delays. >> starting today, ac transit riders at the fruit bill bart station will find their bus stops at different locations. signs have been posted to direct writers to interim bus locations for eight lines. they have been moved to accommodate a construction project. it will be in effect until july but can't about the pensions first. >> june 28th is the last date for the legislature to vote to put something on the november ballot and that is important because jerry brown's tax measure is also on the ballot and conventional wisdom says that without some kind of pension reform, boaters are not inclined to give any additional money. >> governor brown introduced a 12. plan to overhaul public employees' pension >> last october he unveils the plan and people said wonderful and they created a committee as governments do, and nothing happened in the committees of republican lawmakers put the plan in a bill which also ended up in a committee where nothing happened. republican lawmakers tried to pull the bill backed out of the committee and get it voted on. some of the points are to raise the retirement age and create a hybrid plan so people are both experiencing a defined benefit and also the key in and pay their contributions for them and it requires a three-year average of your final plate to prevent spiking and jacking up their pay in the last year to increase their pension. some very important proposals there. democrats say they have their own proposal coming. they are doing it in secret and they will propose it probably at the last minute that they have been asking republicans when they are friends with jerry brown and even republicans say, a broken watch is right twice per day. they really want to vote on this plan probably because what you will see from the democrats is a much more watered-down version. >> let's talk about food. are you a big fan of oigras? >> i have never had it. but this is very weird for me. the ban was passed in 2004 and is finally going into effect on july 1st so all the restaurants in town are trying to get rid of whatever they have in stock. you'll see menus featuring the item so they can get rid of what they have in their kitchens >> a lot of people like it here >> chefs in town are up in arms trying to pass a humane and ethical act to undercut the current ban and that would say that all ec need to be hand fed and subject to state regulators and inspections so the shops are hoping this will be a viable alternative to falling as soon as wall street opened for business this morning. we get the stories from ashley morris in of cbs money watch. >> overseas markets were cautious ahead of this week's european summit. on wall street stocks are really nosediving after spain asked for more bailout money. concerns over the financial problems are driving down the prices of crude oil. coming off of friday's rally we really see the plunge. the dow has already fallen 143 points. nasdaq is down by 38 points so far this morning. at the european summit greek leaders will be trying to renegotiate the terms of the international bailout and italy france germany and spain planned to push for a growth package. italy's leader says that european leaders know they have not done enough to pull europe out of the economic crisis. more good news for drivers at the pump, the price of gas continues to fall. the average price is down 15¢ over the past two weeks. in california drivers are paying on average $3.84 per gallon. a new survey shows almost half of americans, 49 percent don't have enough emergency savings to cover three months of living expenses. the situation appears to be getting worse when it comes to people keeping enough savings. experts say that people should try to have enough savings to cover at least six months of their living expenses. tough to do it in this economy and tough to do if you have a shoe have to like i do. >> how about school? let's talk about the possible unveiling >> 8 could be a big week, the school is holding its annual developers' conference. techie analysts say that it could use the event to launch its own tablet device to compete with the ipad. last week microsoft came out with surface and now they expect that google might have a big announcement as
