>> stephanie: you're talking about lehman brothers. >> caller: didn't wall street get like $16 trillion they defrauded allegedly out of the country? >> stephanie: yeah. >> caller: so how many jobs were created the month after that, the six months after that. let's take six months. oh wait, weren't we losing jobs? it was spot on the entire time then he got to the word pathetic. i was on the ground. i mean what could be better than listening to boehner or tom brokaw trying to pronounce the name of sofia vergara. >> that's despicable. >> that's -- you're despicable. >> stephanie: sorry. >> you're despicable. >> stephanie: wendy in illinois, you're on "the stephanie miller show." >> caller: hi. i'm downstate illinois so i'm -- so refreshing to have your show. i have five quick ones. i wanted to get back, i've been wanting for some time, somehow to get the message out that -- go back to the point someone mentioned about what made liberal such a bad word. i think it goes back to gingrich when he was in. i'm not positive. i think what's wrong with kansas, i think thomas frank or someone wrote that book. it goes into some of that. but conservative -- i looked in the dictionary and thesaurus we're talking narrow focus changing, die hard preserving status quo and oppose change and liberal is tolerant, open-minded, not narrow in opinion or judgment. >> stephanie: wendy, that's what -- >> caller: we as all of us liberals need to drop an education or dictionary bomb because i think so many people -- >> stephanie: wendy, that's exactly why we called it the sexy liberal show. it referred to the audience. it is sexy to be liberal. you're open-minded empathetic. >> caller: they're not stupid. a lot of people are ignorant. you hear things enough, you believe it. they've destroyed that word. we need to take it back. another thing they go on about the religion thing. mormon and all of this. nobody ever mentions that nixon was a quaker. i don't understand why they don't ever bring that up. probably because they're not too hot with the watergate thing. >> stephanie: wendy, i remember once going on -- you remember when i went on hannity's show and he was like are you a liberal? and i was like yes. couldn't be prouder. he didn't know what to do. you're supposed to kring in terror -- you're supposed to cri nge in terror. >> caller: you all have a great show. i wanted to ask a question, i wonder how the republicans in the house and the senate can do their job which part of their job is to appropriate funds but they have signed a pledge with global saying they'll never raise taxes. so how can they do their job when they have already pledged themselves to someone else rather than to the constitution of the united states. >> stephanie: i don't know if you heard the interview with ron reagan. skied him what his dad would have done with the norcross pledge. i think my version is he would have wiped his ass with it. what he would have said to grover norton. who are you? why are you in my office and get out. oh, the president has a new -- we have a new campaign slogan. >> okay. >> stephanie: video. forward. republicans, regressive. put it in reverse. put it in r. back to the '50s or whatever. the president who is handsome and romantic and a good singer said the choice between going backward and moving forward has never been so clear. he told several hundred women. >> i've heard. >> stephanie: as long as i'm president, we're going to keep moving forward. you don't have to take my word for it. you have my signature for it referring to the lilly ledbetter act. he said because something like standing up for the principle of equal pay for equal work is not something i have to get back to you on which is what romney said. it is first law i signed. we have governors in legislatures across the river and virginia and up the road in pennsylvania saying women can't be trusted to make your own decision. they're pushing and passing bills forcing women to get ultrasounds. if you don't like it, the governor of pennsylvania said you can close your eyes. it is appalling, out of touch. the fight over contraception was illuminating for republican's views on women. it was like being in a time machine back to the '50s or earlier. >> more like the '20s. >> stephanie: so far the quinnipiac poll shows him 10 points above romney. obama used the speech to utter the same broken promises to women. uh, no! he said women are not an interest group. women shouldn't be treated this way. he told the cheering crowd.
