force, police brutality and unlawful entry. her hand is bandaged and she's in a cast. she says montgomery county police roughed her up in her oem home. >> this guy grabbed my hand like this and was doing like this. i said stop, stop, you going to break my arm. >> reporter: 65-year-old piero tuno recounts the night she says montgomery county police broke her hand. >> i came from italy and i never get in trouble with nobody. then i have to come in here and keep it like i'm a criminal. >> she's fragile. never hurt a fly. never gotten a ticket in her life. why you guys attacking her. >> reporter: a salvador riva says officers showed up at their wheelt wheat on home to serve him with a bench much warrant. they were posing as yardworkers. >> she answered the door and it was some older male. he said do you know do you need anybody to cut your grass. she stated no. he left. >> reporter: her son saw more people dressed in dark clothing at their door. in time, according to him, they pushed their way inside the home. >> police brutality, plain and simple. >> reporter: a montgomery county police spokesman says chief manger takes all police brutality complaints seriously. the department has started look into the complaint even before officially filed. the family says officers never identified themselves and didn't produce a warrant until hours later. they thought it was a home invasion. >> the corner of my eye i see people running to the door, regular clothes, no uniform. they knocked on the door. i open it. they barge inside the house. turn me around. and put handcuffs on me. >> reporter: the woman who has worked as a seamstress for 40 plus years was in her sowing room when she heard the ruckus. moments later the fat 502 woman said she was grabbed by a 6'tall officer. >> pull me outside, be professional. late her know what's going on. no. it was like a crazy movie. >> reporter: now she has a broken hand and will likely be in a cast for weeks. she is terrified. >> i feel so upset because i don't deserve this. always i was a good person all my life. i don't know how i'm going to live like this. i can't work for a while. i don't know what to do. >> reporter: the family says they tried to file a complaint at the police station this weekend but were only given a flyer and told to mail in the complaint. montgomery county police says that's not their policy and anybody can file it at any police station. if you believe an officer is acting improperly at your house once they come with police officers you can ask to have a supervisor sent to the scene at the time of the incident. we're live in the news room, roby chavez, fox 5 news. back up to you. >> i know you're going to stay on top of this for us. we have developing news tonight out of the gulf coast. an obama administration official says scientists are concerned about a possible meth and i leakage near the gulf oil well. there is fear of a leak or several leaks in this well. the same official is telling fox news bp is not complying with the government's demand to keep monitoring the capped well. bp says it is working closely with government scientists. here at home an accused killer behind bars in montgomery county. police arrested travis wright in connection with the murder of a man at the lake forest transit center in gaithersburg. it happened late last night. police got a call about a shooting and when officers arrived they found marlin tine an with a gunshot wound. police say the two men argued minutes before the shooting. a similar story in dvenlth officers responded to a call of shots fired on 58th street southeast. they arrived and found james edward johnson dead on the scene. he was shot several times. there is a reward of $25,000 for any information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case. d.c. police wrapped up another all and on-deck this weekend. >> the hope is that the city wide effort stopped crime before starts and the community will become more active and cooperate with officers to help solve crimes. this go around chief cathy lanier said armed robberies topped the list of most common crimes. according to early reports police made affidavits in three armed robberies. a 26-year-old man stuck in egypt for two months because his name made it onto the no fly list. that virginia man is back home in burk and his story has outraged a civil liberties group. fox 5's karen gray houston has a closer look. >> reporter: yahia wahali was born in fairfax to somali parents. seen here holding his u.s. passport. >> he was interrogated multiple times, in egypt, under went polygraph tests. was apparently completely cleared by the fbi yet he remains stuck in egypt based on this no fly policy. >> reporter: the fbi had concerns about his travels to yemen two years ago. wahali said he was studying there, learning to speak arabic. muslim add advocacy groups are outraged that wahali was detained in egypt for two months on his way back. >> we believe that barring american citizens from reentering their country is a violation of their rights. it's a violation of due process. >> reporter: wahali was living in a cheap hotel in cairo eating fast food with coupons provided by the u.s. embassy. his brother also detained, was allowed to leave. one terrorism expert we spoke to says wahali's case was terribly mishandled. >> i don't think this was handled very well at all and i think it's certainly abusive of his rights as an american citizen. >> reporter: neal living stone says post 9/11 the government may have legitimate questions robert wone questions about what wahali was doing in yemen. however. >> there is some speculation that it was easier to hold him in egypt so he would not have the constitutional rights in the united states. >> reporter: the aclu has filed a lawsuit challengin constitutionality of the no fly list. >> we should have a no fly list. she haven't done a good job. ted kennedy was on the no fly list at one point. surely they can get that write. >> reporter: wahali's family says he just wants to go on with his life. karen gray houston, fox 5 . a footnote now from the american is lal i can council on relations. the group is telling american muslims to make sure they have an emergency contact number for an attorney if they do travel overseas. that's in case they say if they're detained and they last several days, right along 66. we're going to start off in the center of the district. this little shower has just formed. looks like it's probably already a thunderstorm even though i'm not getting any lightning out of it yet. there is probably cloud to cloud lightning and very, very heavy rain. another area we're watching as well north of 66 for fairfax and lowden county, centerville getting good rain right now. this is pass through hay market in middleburg and raenl reston virginia, an dale, burk, all going to get showers outf this. the last stop willbe up into central sectns of montgomery county. this is just between gaithersburg and german town it, clarksburg. all moving in your direction too as the thunderstorms are tracking for west to east at about 15 to 20 miles per hour, a lot of lightning. let's go to highs today because you can see how warm it was. 95 for reagan national. the same for bwi and 92 for dulles. this week it's going to be super hot through the south. super humid as well. we are still going to be hot. don't get me wrong. we'll stay in the 90s but the real intense heat looks like it will stay to the south of us. again we're going to be in the here, fox 5 news at 10:00 just getting started. d t tos a work site accident in baltimore has claimed the life of a contractor. officials say he was working on a sewer system when he fell into a hole that was about ten feet deep. the dirt caved in on top of him. firefighters tried to rescue the man but it was just too late. >> just out of nowhere, it just happened so quick. >> tragic. a sad situation. something that started out so simple cost somebody, you know. >> i commend all the baltimore city fire department for the hard work they do. i mean, you know, they risk their lives to help other people. i think it's admirable. >> reporter: emergency crews had to stabilize the trench the man had fallen into to make sure the collapse did not get any worse. so far the man's name has not been released. a deadly shooting at a public park near seattle started with an argument between two groups. one of the groups gathered at the park to celebrate a birthday. it's not clear what the beef was about but when it was all over, two people were dead and four more were hurt. police were on the scene within moments trying to keep the rest of the visitors inside the park safe. >> didn't really see too much. it's kind of dark out. heard a lot of gunfire. maybe about 15 rounds went off. sounded like 9-millimeter, 45. >> they let us know what was going on, they told you might not want to drive. if you do we got to check out your car and there is a situation going on so they prepared us. >> reporter: so far investigators found four guns and at least 20 shell casings. six people are in custody. an unlikely ally came to the defense of the tea party. vice president joe biden says while some nebz members may have racist views that doesn't mean the party is. >> i don't believe, the president doesn't believe, that the tea party is a racist organization. i don't believe that. very conservative, very views on government and a whole lot of things, but it is not a racist organization. >> the vice president touched on the removal of general stanley mcchrystal. you may remember the general made some comments about the obama administration, especially vice president biden. biden says he didn't take it personally and that mcchrystal has since apologized. secretary of state hillary clinton is pushing pakistan to help the us win the war on terror in afghanistan. in exchange pakistan will get major aid. caroline shively reports on the effort and why critics say this is useless. >> reporter: secretary clinton is now in south asia trying to convince coalition partners to hold steady in afghanistan as questions about corruption surge. first stop was pakistan where clinton stressed the need for cooperation from that ally. clinton's trip comes as richard hoss tells news week that the u.s. needs to rethink afghanistan, that we're not winning and it's not worth it. hoss is suggesting a severe draw down of troops and writes quote after nearly nine years of war continued or increased u.s. involvement in afghanistan isn't likely to yield lasting improvements that would be commensurate in any way with the investment of american blood and treasure. it is time to scale down our ambitions and both reduce and redirect what we do. others say now is not the time to leave. >> it is a very difficult conflict nats going to take a long time. that's sometimes obama and his family are back at the white house tonight. they just wrapped up a mini vacation in bar harbor maine. while the first family enjoyed quality times some critics called the vacation destination inappropriate saying they should have taken their tourist dollars to the gulf coast. a top u.s. tourist spot is getting a makeover. after years planning the national park service unveiled its final plan for america's front yard. bob barnard has a look at the future of the national mall. >> reporter: it is home to the largest protests. >> i about ram hussein obama do solemnly swear. >> reporter: presidential inaugurations. and independence day celebrations. a magnetic strip of americana called the national mall. >> amazing. absolutely amazing. >> i like it. all the scenic views. >> reporter: but if you look closely you'll see what 25 million visitors a year has done to this place. >> weather worn, people worn, overused. >> reporter: now the national park service is revealing its brand new road map for the long-term health and welfare of the national mall. this is it. the final national mall plan. it's more than 2 inches thick, more than 600 pages. based on more than 30,000 interviews with americans from all 50 states. and the work of nearly two dozen federal and local government agencies. >> basically, the visionary statement that tells the national park service how the american public wants us to plan for and to maintain and conserve the national mall for the next 25, 30 years and beyond. >> reporter: when planning began four years ago, the park service identified $450 million in needed repairs. then they listened to what you wanted. >> honestly they should make a trolley. i've been walking forever. >> probably if you put stuff that talks to you, lincoln memorial, or something to that effect. >> more bathroom facilities, just because of families and people need that. >> reporter: that one resonates. >> ultimately they want better restroom facilities. they want better places and a variety of places in which they can eat food. maybe we need to talk about rangers greeth people as they come out of the smithsonian metro station. >> reporter: maybe because while the plan is complete the money to make any of it happen doesn't exist right now. along the national mall, bob barnard, fox 5 news. >> a traffic alert for your morning drive. the 14th street bridge may have a different traffic pattern when you get there. crews are shifting drivers on the northbound bridge. you might have to be prepared for lane changes. it's part of the long-term project to overhaul the bridge. if you're heading over the bay bridge tomorrow you're going to have to take a detour. transportation officials will shut down the eastbound span at midnight. they'll stay closed until 5:00 a.m. for repairs and during the week you should expect lane closures on both spans of the bridge. it's all for regular maintenance and inspection. >> what was that called a
