Jun. 3, 2021 12:51 PM Israel’s 11-day flare-up with Hamas in Gaza last month was the focal point of global attention. At times it felt as if the whole world was watching videos of the Gaza skyline, repeatedly seeing scenes of aerial strikes by the Israel Air Force and rocket launches from the Strip into Israel. Though images from Gaza were broadcast around the clock, detailed information regarding airstrikes was scarce and in many cases limited to what the Israel Defense Forces provided. One of the biggest challenges facing those trying to monitor developments in the Hamas-run enclave is a physical one: The Gaza Strip has been under an Israeli-Egyptian blockade since 2007 and access is either limited or impossible.
