19 Killed, One Injured As Two Vehicles Collide, Burst Into Flames In Kogi Auto Crash

  An auto crash at the Okene bypass on the Okene-Lokoja highway in Kogi State claimed 19 lives on Sunday. Following the crash, it was learnt that the vehicles burst into flames, making recovery efforts more difficult for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). A statement by the FRSC Assistant Corps Marshal, Corps Public Education Officer, Jonas Agwu, on Sunday said that the emergency rescue teams of the agency “endured over three hours of inferno in their bid to rescue road traffic victims at the scene of a fatal crash that claimed 19 lives on Sunday”.

Nigeria's Obafemi Awolowo Varsity Students Threaten Protest Over Fuel Crisis

Students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife under the umbrella of Great Ife Students’ Union have threatened to embark on A protest if President Bola Tinubu’s administration fails to address the current fuel crisis as soon as possible.   The students issued the threat in a statement issued on Sunday by the President of Great Ife Students’ Union, Abbas Akinremi Ojo. Ojo lamented that the current plight of students due to the hikes in fuel prices and the unavailability of fuel for efficient transportation has reached unprecedented levels.

    Candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have won the chairmanship positions in 33 local government areas of Oyo State. The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) on Sunday announced the results of the council poll held on Saturday, April 27.
