CKCU: Kiran Ahluwalia's latest; recent and new albums from Analog Africa; 30 for 30 with Liszt's Transcendental Etudes. - David Dalle

We start today with the brand new album from Kiran Ahluwalia entitled "Comfort Food". Despite the warm title, the album was inspired by the sense of helplessness she felt about the growing intolerance and extreme Hindu nationalism in her homeland of India. The songs are her response and they strive to give voice to the marginalized--in doing so, they became her "comfort food". The songs range from political protest to infectious, joyful tunes about love and relationships. There is also a wonderful collaboration with Algerian singer Souad Massi. We will also hear from three new and recent releases on the fabulous label Analog Africa, with a new compilation of Congolese music from the neighbouring capitals Kinshasha and Brazzaville; Guinean guitarist Leon Keita whose extraordinary career was spent in Mali, including being a co-founder of the legendary Rail Band; and an album of 60's Foro master Ary Lobo from Northern Brazil.
