The headline from your headline the wildest story in the republican party right now. wild because you have this conflict of local national? right. i mean, what is going to happen now there s going to be a special election. and the party leaders locally will choose who the candidates are from each side. as you said dan donnavan the local da is i merging as the leading contender. everybody thinks he would have a great chance. on the other hand there s an assemblywoman who is 34 she s half cuban. she fits with the republican party s national rebranding goals. the local party there s tension between her and them. they re going for donnavan. doesn t it come down to money? if the party wants a certain candidate they re going to say, okay, we ll give you $100,000 $200,000 to get this seat. i think that s a huge question right now. will the national party sort of come into try to influence this? because donnavan might not have any trouble winning in the conservative district but he ....
And that was a very difficult thing for me to do. and i ll never forget being there and having that done. and i don t regret it. i don t regret it because i am here making a difference, at least in my mind, for many other young ladies. and joining me now is state assemblywoman lucy flores. first of all, thank you so much for being here. absolutely. when you made that admission, first of all, what prompted you to so publicly acknowledge something that really women don t talk about and what was the reaction? well, first of all, i didn t intend on doing it. i wasn t actually even supposed to testify that day. i had a break in my schedule, and i was asked if i was going to testify in support, so i did. and i just didn t plan on doing that. what i felt compelled to do is ....
What i did know about was that i knew a lot of people who were in prison and a lot of people who were on welfare and a lot of people who were, you know, just having babies. when i was sentenced to this facility i just felt like it was just another normal occurrence, something that was bound to happen. we re at the college of southern nevada, one of our community colleges here in las vegas. this is where i decided to start my new life once i made the decision that education was going to be the key to my future. i ended up in the state legislature. i felt like i had this amazing opportunity to work on all kinds of issues that were important to me and do it in a way that didn t affect just five people but affected entire communities, that could affect an entire state. joining me now live is the woman herself, nevada assemblywoman and democratic nominee for lieutenant governor, ....
